Awesome! Thanks! I couldn't figure out that last hidden screw behind the wire ribbon to take the camera off!! To all who use their drones, these drones do not do well in ambient temperatures below 26 Degrees F. I've flown in 26 Deg F with no problems. I was flying mine in 18 Deg F temps. It gave me a warm-up warning. I let it warm up and it cleared. I took off and ascended about 100' when I got another warning and the unit automatically shutdown immediately while in flight before I had time to descend and land. You'd be amazed at just how fast it "descends" at 100' when the motors shut down. ;) Fortunately it was overhead. Happened so quick I didn't have time to make the catch but was able to break the fall with my foot. Gimbal broke but camera still worked. Slight divot a the edge of the lens protector but doesn't impede the camera lens. Parts are getting harder to find for these older models. I highly recommend ordering spares if you have to order a replacement part.

Thanks for showing how to do this. Maiden flight of an Ebay p3p was really almost uncontrollable and unlike any DJI Phantom product I've used (P4Pv2.0) and on the second flight it rolled over at 40' and slammed into the ground. Good by gimble arm. Hello ground.

great video this much appreciated. i got gimbal damage on my phantom 3 avd, needs new yaw arm and backplate, the bearing that sits on the top of the yaw arm spindle smashed thro the backplate and need to find out what size that bearing was as i did not recover it, any ideas thanks?

13:08 Ive had a problem witha brushless motor on an rc plane, because i have messsed with the shaft. When i was putting this board on, i took a pair of tweezers and spun the encoder thing for the gimbal, and it fit great. I then used the same tweezers to put everything back together. not easy, but doable

Hey when I stick the motor arm to the black thing as you do at 14:10 , this part doestn move freely, there is some resistance both parts separately move freely, it still moves freely when i connect both, but the moment i try to click it on each other, when I connect it tighly, it doesnt move freely anymore and the motors cant deal with such resistance when its on :c I cant figure out whats the problem

Replaced my yaw arm and ribbon cable. Now my gimbal freaks out and gets overload. I made sure the flat spot on the horizontal axis is flat with the camera. But it's still going crazy. Any idea?

Put it all back together and that camera hold down thing that broke off turns out to be important. In my previous post the thing on the camera plug in broke and I thought it might work without it but no. My camera is possessed and no image. I pulled the back off and pulled that connection and it’s doing the same. So I’m thinking it’s not making connection. Any help is welcome!!!

After doing a flex ribbon cable replacement on my Phantom 3 advanced. The camera will not point up at all.. I can physically move it with my hand, but it wont move with controller. and when pointing down, it only will go straight down, not past 180. It points forward and down (45 degree movement) im thinking i missed something, but cant figure it out.

yes but be careful it has sticky on it may need to add extra adhesive when putting back together

I was doing it right but the damn camera itself will not come off after I take the screw out the shaft holding it on.. yours just basically falls off but mine I'm wedging my fingers in-between and putting quite a bit of force and it will not come off... UPDATE: it was slightly corded to the shaft. Took some metal tools used to help remove phone screens to get it off. Just wedged them on both sides and pushed them in and repeated that till it came off.

I can't get my camera to center, it points off to the right all the time. I have tried the Center Gimbal and the Calibrate the gimbal function several times with no luck ! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I strongly recommend looking for another video on KZbin. First you need to insert the cable into the matrix without removing it !!!

I know this is very old (vid). But incase you still see this. I had a battery failure and my P3A fell out of the air shortly after take off. It got just high enough to do quite a bit of damage (about 75-85 FT). dropped into tall grass, but still hit hard enough to slam the camera up against the bottem of the drone, and break off the arm. not sure if the camera is still good, but I'm sure all the arms/brackets have to be replaced, along with at least one of the motors. 1st question, should the drone be able to fly without the camera attached (to test drone)? No point in trying to fix the camera if the drone is damaged. 2nd, is ebay the best place to find parts, or do you have a link that has parts, and do you know if there's a complete kit, with everything besides the camera (arms, motors, boards, ribbon). That may be a little cheaper than everything, including the camera? I found a few entire units (complete camera ready to mount to drone) on ebay, for around $235. I was hoping not to have to spend quite that much money, if possible. I know the camera itself is the most expensive single part. So, if by chance I could get everything BUT the camera, maybe it would be cheaper. Separately ... i saw that a motor is about $13, kit with ribbon, and some brackets about $35, the base cover about about $15, and I'm not sure what else may be damaged (circuit board(s) , other). That's why I wonder if they sell a complete unit, less camera. Thanks!

Hey dude, totally frustrating, you cover parts you're working on with your hands so viewers simply cannot see what you're doing, duh! Also you rush too quickly through stages, you need to go more slowly, so this requires multiple reverses of the video to work out what the hell you were doing. Worse of all, the wrapping of the ribbon at around 9 minutes in is both rushed and norw shown clearly, and all the time your self-congratulatory comments do not help the viewer, better to think more about waht you're doing and explain in simple, considered words which would be more helpful to the viewer. Very frustrating experience, so I went and found someone else who is not hyped up, who speaks clearly and slowly, does not mask the drone their hands and takes viewers through each stage in a more considered, intelligent manner.
