Nice! I got a bike where the seatpost would need to go a bit more into the frame so would have to cut a section off from the top tube. This repair method should work to patch the hole. Thanks!

Hey can you give us the thickness of the shrink tape?
@mountainbikingfortherestofusАй бұрын
Sorry, no idea.

@@mountainbikingfortherestofus here's the problem I can't find any shrink tape on my country. And searching for an alternative. Can I use a heat shrink tube for wires? There is a variant that is transparent. Cut it in the middle and spread it out to make it just like a tape. Another option is shrink wrap for packages and Box but it is very thin.
@mountainbikingfortherestofusАй бұрын
@@surapurna no you can't use that. The idea is the film allows the resign to seep through the pours of the tape. Which of course is achieved with the heat. Check this out. www.easycomposites.co.uk/composites-shrink-tape

2 things...where did you get the repair kit/products and why didn't you sand the entire repaired area down to the carbon?
@mountainbikingfortherestofus2 ай бұрын
Composite Envisions. It wasn't necessary to sand down to carbon. The paint added additional thickness to the repaired area and once the carbon was layered it would not be in danger of peeling.

Where did you buy the repair kit?
@mountainbikingfortherestofus4 ай бұрын
Composite Envisions. What ever you do, don't get cheap kit. I did the first time and it was a nightmare. Deal with a company that sells a range of carbon products. You will spend more but oh so worth it.

how to repair crack in head tube, sir?
@mountainbikingfortherestofus17 күн бұрын
In no way do I profess to be a professional carbon repair guy. Plus, you see I was not doing structural stuff. BUT, headtube would certainly be easier to access then the area I was working. At the end of the day you need to do the research and give it a try.
