For that style i wrap electric tape around the main part and if needed clear tape as well, a little bit of baby oil and boom it works

Thanks for this video. Very helpful. I have a doll, which I got after my late mother. Doll probably 60 or more, years old. The crier broke down. some years ago. Doll always kept very carefully, I could repair the crier, as you describe, airtight place for the crier. Used the method below, tape and a drop of baby oil.

Great to hear from you. Even when handled very carefully, the flange around the edge of the crier can perish. If you need any additional advice on repairing the crier, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Hello! Thank you for the video! Do you know what the base for the crier is made of? I opened a crier on a doll and the base is almost completely ruined, so I wonder if I can replace it? Thank you in advance!
@hobartdollshospital172011 ай бұрын
The base was often made of plastic or bakelite. Some were all cardboard as well.

Hi Kittie. Is there any way to repair the reed if that doesn't work when blown through please? Best wishes from the UK
@hobartdollshospital1720 Жыл бұрын
Hi. You can try cleaning by blowing through or using a fine brush. Try blowing through from both sides as well. It doesn't take much grit to prevent it from working. Also check that the reed isn't bent and misaligned. An alternative is to use the reed and surrounding piece from another damaged crier. I could send you one but postage costs might make it more worthwhile looking for one closer to home. Another point is the opening to the reed doesn't have to be misaligned or bent by much for it to prevent the sound.

I loved your video and I would like to know if the antique doll crier ( 1940) is the same process. It is made for cardboard and the top is made a tin with holes. I live in Brazil and thank you for your help.

What is the crier mechanism made out of? Is it lead?
@auntiesp74562 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Thank you for your video! I need to try this again, but I have a different type of cryer mechanism. It's a key wind clock work cryer. I can't find anyone else out there that has seen anything like it. 1940's doll :) I like your ideas though, so I'll give it another go :)

Hi. Ive been thinking about your wind up clock work crier. Can you send me a photo of it? you can send it to kittykruup@hotmail.com I remember a British doll that had a wind up crier, and also an Italian doll as well.

Can a pedigree doll crier cover be removed as mine is had to get off.
@northernsoulboy16 ай бұрын
Hi Kitty I’m having trouble removing the cryer box. It rotates about 90degrees but is very stiff. Should it just pull out?
@hobartdollshospital17206 ай бұрын
Do you mean the external cap that you remove to access the crier? If so, if you look closely you will see that on each side is a little slot. You need to align it with pieces that help lock the cap in place. Gradually turn the cap a little at a time until the slots line up with the pieces that will then allow you to lift the cap out. It's not always easy and may take patience so as not to damage things. Let me know how you go or if you need further explanation.

Where do you use the baby oil? Inside of bag? On the inside or outside of the bag in the drum
