Thank you for that. The lady next door who is 78 has had her Pedigree mama doll since she was five and the rubber thong has perished. It's a sort of thick, clear rubber tubing. Your way is not how I would have done it, so it just goes to show, learn from the experts !!! Thank you, Stewart, south west WA.

Hello I've only just found your videos, absolutely fantastic thank you. I don't know if you respond to questions but I'm giving it ago. I'm 70 now and my pedigree doll was brought back from England before I was born. I have had her restored a few years ago with disastrous results. Her head will not stay still and flips back or forwards and her legs go up into her body. She does have a split seam in the body groin( that she didn't have before the restoration)I have tried twisting the head to tighten the elastic thinking to hold her head better but no this doesn't work. Now I have watched your work I'm thinking I'll pull the whole lot apart and give it ago myself....Fingers crossed.

I have lots of Pedigree dolls, I'm 75 and still have my original doll but bought many over the years and now a number of them have the need of new elastic for their heads, can you tell me if the elastic is easy to purchase?

When you attach the arm elastic does it matter whether it passes in front of or behind the head/ leg elastic?

Dear Chantee, can you send me some pics of your doll. Either text on 0439555514 or email hobartdollshospital@gmail.com. She sounds like an amazing doll and so it is important that whatever you do does not result in damage. Once I have a look I will try and provide some guidance and advice. Thanks for contacting me, Kitty

Amazing video thanks so much! Just wondering where do you buy your elastic cord from?
@hobartdollshospital17209 ай бұрын
No not really. Sometimes the alignment is such that the elastic will naturally sit in front or behind the other elastic. Once it is all pulled tight it doesn't really matter.

Thank you so much for this information! Too finish off my restoration just wondering if you may know what paint should be used on pedigree dolls - touch up cheeks and lips? Does the paint need to be sealed?
@hobartdollshospital1720 Жыл бұрын
I've tried a few different ways. I presume you mean Pedigree hard plastic? You could use an air sprayer and lightly dust the cheeks. Another is using an oil based paint. Mix the colours to get the best tone then dab very lightly a tiny amount of turps to wet the cheeks then onto this dab on some paint that has been watered down with turps so it's quite thin almost transparent. You can try using a sponge or even just your finger. Don't be afraid to wipe off and try again till you get the result you want. By applying a dab of turps first and using a sponge the edges of the colour are feathered and look more natural. Using an oil based paint you shouldn't need to seal it but if you do then a thin satin finish would be good but probably not needed. For the lips you can use a stronger more opaque colour which hasn't been thinned down. Then while again not that necessary, you can seal with a crystal clear gloss finish. When using a sealant make sure it is crystal clear. If colouring cheeks on a vinyl doll acrylic paint is best as oil paints can sometimes bleed into the surrounding area .
