I had this exact problem and replacing the USB fixed it! For anyone watching, be mindful of the little pads that you solder onto (the rings around the holes where the pins go through). On mine they came right off when I was removing the old USB connector. I was able to scratch off some of the PCB material to expose the copper underneath and make a little solder bridge from the pin to the copper. It was barely making contact but it works!

I just did the same thing to fix an AKAI keyboard. He seemed to have no damage to the PCB traces (donut shape pads) when he unsoldered. I guess I heated them too much, but 2 of mine came off/got destroyed, so like you, I made a little copper wire jumper and soldered that.

when you solderer a plug like that you should solder the big points first because this anchors the plug and when you solder the data pins you will not be putting pressure / force on the solder points on the PCB. ( I am an engineer with a keyboard company )

Had the exact same problem with my axiom 49. Thanks for the video! This repaired it. I had to make sure the solder on the 4 pins didn't touch each other. It wouldn't work at first when the solder was connecting/touching the other pins. Thanks again.

I’m in the process of moving and rebuilding my studio and had this issue where is was saying device can’t be identified or whatever, and look who has a tutorial on it! 😂 I’ve been wanting to learn soldering anyways so this is my opportunity, took my keyboard apart and it looks like the usb was pushed in too hard and broke the connection, waiting on my parts to come in the mail!

The latest thing that is out from the norm was to build a soundproof isolation booth: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZnZp4uugax2d7s Just, make sure not to work too hot, and don't burn the board, otherwise, you're pretty much screwed! 0,0'' No stress though! :3

You have to find the 'Axiom Pro.bundle' file online somewhere. Download it and put it in the Logic Pro's MIDI device plugin folder. Once you've done that you, HYPER CONTROL functions will work. The 1st Gen Axioms won't work unless you do this. Cheers.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, use blu-tac to hold components in place. Or masking tap. They don't leave much of a residue. Also you should start soldering the larger pins first before the electric signal pins.

First, thx for this vid, watched twice. My prob though: new USB female too tight. cable insert actually makes a nice satisfying click, whereas old one seemed only very slightly loose. I've never soldered before. This is an Akai MPK88. I've tried 3 cables (male USB-C) all same. It takes some pressure going in (already too much) then that nice click. It takes a lot of pressure to unplug--way too much. So even if I was a master solderer, this would break instantly as soon as I solder new one in. Any advice please and thanks?

Ouch. It sounds like, you burnt the whole board's pad? I don't really know where to go from there. I'm not an expert on that topic. =/ The only thing I can think of kind of related to that, was something like Nintendo Cartridges. They would scrape off part of the circuit board that had a trace of the copper circuit, and then hard wired it back to the circuit board to create the connection using a small wire. Like I said though, don't take just my word for it! Hopefully you can get that figured out!

I did not look into specifics when I bought mines ( other than making sure that it was a USB Type B Female port, and not some Type C or micro lol ) Have you looked at the soldering on the old USB port already? If the device powers on when the USB wire is at a tilt, maybe the solder points needs to be re-flowed in order to gain back it's connection and hold onto it.

My keyboard's screen turning on but pc not recognise it and some random numbers showing on screen like i touch knobs. Any idea what's the problem about?

I can't really give you an answer since I don't know what keyboard you're using, what random numbers are showing etc. If the random things are like "CC 14" or something, that's part of the keyboard controller. Read up it's manual to fully understand what is going on with it. And see to make sure that you installed the right driver for it. If it worked before, and then you tried to re-solder the USB port back, chances could be that the contacts were bridged together, or not fully contacted.

@@OmoiSenpai I've M-audio oxygen 61 mk3. It's getting power when connected to pc but pc not recognise any device. And some random numbers appear on screen and change quickly like 78,92,102 vs. When i turn the knobs and sliders numbers are chaning. I last used it 8 years ago and it was working fine. I wonder what problem might have been?

my casio has a different usb, with 4 small pins soldered on top of the board instead of the pins that go through like yours....What a shame, I have to buy a new keyboard for an obviously cheaply designer connector
@OmoiSenpai
@OmoiSenpai 9 ай бұрын
If anything, the pins could be bent or cut smaller if it works. Or maybe there is a specific part for it that can be bought and fixed with. Either way. I hope it works out for ya!

I replaced the USB. it turns on when connected to the computer. But its not detecting the interface. I feel like I've tried everything. Can you give me some input on this?

Hey! The same issue happened when I did it the first time. I think I talk about it in the video. But see to make sure that all of the connections are properly soldered, and are on their own contact, and not connected anywhere else.

Hello, I replace the usb port and now the "USB power surge" sign appears, does anyone know what I could have done wrong and how to fix it?

Just get a power surge strip (google it) and connect your power supply to that and then connect the strip to your wall outlet. Problem solved.
