Do you have a Midi Keyboard ( or any device really ) that's power goes on and off if you move the USB Wire, or maybe you're not getting any power at all? Chances are, your USB B Female Connector Port may be the culprit. In this video, I go about showing how to replace one of these myself!
The USB port I bought: amzn.to/2LKiUNt
Equipment you would need!
Soldering Iron kit: amzn.to/3JzqRjL
The Kit comes with Soldering Wire but...
Soldering Wire: amzn.to/3WR9vSA
DEFINITELY!!! Get this...

I used to use a battery as a way of keeping the wire pushed up, Like how you'd use a door stopper, those little triangle things, to hold a door open. That, but on the wire.

Yo my boy omoi, I'm hearing such an annoying ringing high pitch sound from my monitors it's not just that but static and like computer sounds, WHATS UP WITH THAT?!? I got a power bank and nothing, pc and mac both do it, it's my second pair of monitors they both do it. Idk what do you think???

Hey! Do you happen to have something like LED lights near it, or any electronics? Sounds like that could be the issue if it happened to not only 1 pair of Monitors. Mines does the ring as well with my LED Strips when I have them on. They're not much of a bother to me though. I'm placing my bet on an Electrical interference!
@usbmgchannel8446

@@OmoiSenpai thanks for your two cents, but it's been bothering me cause I've tried alot and dont want to keep buying these monitors were expensive enough... I seen somebody go as far and removing the third prong off the wall cable I think it's called the ground, but I'm not with all that. I'm glad your dropping videos again regularly keep it up the game needs you.
@OmoiSenpai
@OmoiSenpai 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And Eek, I wouldn't even dare destroying the prong! If you want, you could experiment by using the Monitors elsewhere, and away from everything to see if you hear the ringing problem. If you don't hear the problem, then it's definitely due to an interference, rather than it being the speakers itself. Also test it out with multiple output cables.

when you solderer a plug like that you should solder the big points first because this anchors the plug and when you solder the data pins you will not be putting pressure / force on the solder points on the PCB. ( I am an engineer with a keyboard company )
@skunker505
@skunker505 5 жыл бұрын
I had this exact problem and replacing the USB fixed it! For anyone watching, be mindful of the little pads that you solder onto (the rings around the holes where the pins go through). On mine they came right off when I was removing the old USB connector. I was able to scratch off some of the PCB material to expose the copper underneath and make a little solder bridge from the pin to the copper. It was barely making contact but it works!

I just did the same thing to fix an AKAI keyboard. He seemed to have no damage to the PCB traces (donut shape pads) when he unsoldered. I guess I heated them too much, but 2 of mine came off/got destroyed, so like you, I made a little copper wire jumper and soldered that.

no matter what keyboard you get it seems like the cheap ass material they use for the usb part will break with normal use. Id pay all my money for one I dont have to become a technician to use less than a year after i got it. Its impossible to get into them with any of my tools, do I need a special one? nowhere online says. Ive bought three in last five years they just arent reliable. Might buy a custom one some day. Sick of this shit being built so cheap but a hefty price regardless. Like USB is the achilles heel are you serious? Im a music dude not a DIY electrician haahaha

First, thx for this vid, watched twice. My prob though: new USB female too tight. cable insert actually makes a nice satisfying click, whereas old one seemed only very slightly loose. I've never soldered before. This is an Akai MPK88. I've tried 3 cables (male USB-C) all same. It takes some pressure going in (already too much) then that nice click. It takes a lot of pressure to unplug--way too much. So even if I was a master solderer, this would break instantly as soon as I solder new one in. Any advice please and thanks?

If it hasn't already been mentioned, use blu-tac to hold components in place. Or masking tap. They don't leave much of a residue. Also you should start soldering the larger pins first before the electric signal pins.

Sorry yo. I don't do that type of service. If you got a buddy that knows how to Solder, they should be able to do it with ease though!

Same controller, same issue... I was really hoping for an easier fix. Just shove a spacer in there or something. Oh, well. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, I replace the usb port and now the "USB power surge" sign appears, does anyone know what I could have done wrong and how to fix it?

Just get a power surge strip (google it) and connect your power supply to that and then connect the strip to your wall outlet. Problem solved.

Hey! The same issue happened when I did it the first time. I think I talk about it in the video. But see to make sure that all of the connections are properly soldered, and are on their own contact, and not connected anywhere else.

Before you do all this soldering you can try spraying a little Deoxit in there, it's like WD40 for electronics and helps maintain the connection. Just recently discovered it myself and it's had several uses already. Worked to fix my USB port which only worked when it was held to one side.
