Thank you. I had a few cracks. One was bad. I followed your instruction exactly and it looks amazing. The floor of the tub is now very solid and the paint from Krylon (Buscuit color) matched up perfectly. Also replaced all of the chromed shower parts and it looks like a brand new shower. I am shocked at how well it worked out for us. Thank you. This video saved me thousands of dollars on a shower/tub insert replacement. Thank you

I want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR for this video!!! My aged parents had someone come out to give an estimate of why the tub was leaking. They were quoted $3000 plus to repair and $8000 to replace. My parents are on a fixed budget. I went to visit (I live 4hrs away) and inspect it myself. No water marks or stains around the fixtures. None where my dad said water was coming out the wall. I noticed a crack in the tub. I watched your STEP BY STEP video about five or six times to build my confidence to see if I would attempt the repair!! THANK YOU again because I did, and it came out perfect!!! Can't tell a crack was even there to begin with. It also fixed the water leak!!!! Thank God for people like you to help people like me and my parents not to be taken advantage of!! HUGE THUMBS UP!!! THANK YOU AGAIN! Your awesome!!

Would it be better to countersink those holes, then the fill would have land area giving more structural to the hole . A straight hole can more easily fail by falling straight through where a chamfered hole hole has a larger top and cannot fall through.

$3000! ...$8000! People are insane nowadays. They just tell you anything like money is water. I asked about taking a tree down in my yard and they said $3000. It was three guys and they said it would take a day. They were from Honduras and couldn't speak English. I'm pretty sure they must be here illegally. $3000 is probably more than a years salary for 2 people there. I found a local American guy and his son to do it for $600.

I have a fiberglass tub with stress cracks, I called someone local ( I live in NJ) and they wanted over $800 to repair. I watched your video multiple times and did the job myself over the weekend. I could have sanded the putty better, but I am really pleased with the results! Not only did I repair the cracks, but after watching your video I also removed and re-calked the tub - looks brand new!!! Fingers crossed I did it right, and no leaks lol!!!

This is awesome! So glad you found the video useful! Once al material dries...fill the bathtub up and plug it. Let the water sit for about an hour keeping an eye on it and see if the water level changes or if it leaks. This will help you know right away. You could also stand in it while filled to make sure there are no cracks that open up while the weight of a person is in the tub. Otherwise, congrats!!!

Thanks for this video! After 5 plumbers, one finally discovered a crack in the tub about 3-4 inches across in the bottom corner. They told me that repairing the crack is only a temporary “band aid”. I was told a new $4,800 tub/shower needed to be put in. Well......I know how strong Bondo is and when I seen this video, I knew right away this was an excellent option. I followed your vid exactly and stayed under $100 buying all the supplies. I’m about 14 hours away from filling the tub and testing out the repair. Only trouble I had was the fact I didn’t have a flexible tool to spread the glass and putty over the curve. I did what I could and smoothed it out with the back of my finger. It wasn’t a super flat flush finish, but after liberal sanding it is smooth and almost unnoticeable after the paint. Thanks for this vid and saving me loads of money. 👍👌😎

Wanted to say thanks along with everyone else. Just bought a house and really don’t have much of a “safety net” for repairs on things. Our tub was sketchy when we first moved in and we noticed a lot of give in areas. After about 6 months a small crack appeared in the floor. This video helped me save a ton and taught me a new life skill. The job wasn’t pretty….but I fixed the sagging floor based off your videos and patched the many stress fractures in the base of the tub and a large crack on the sidewall. Primer is drying over night and then I’ll sand and use the krylon from the video. Thank you so much for willingly showing this process on here for those of us daring enough to try our hands at it. You’re a modern day hero.

RisenPhoenix, I realize this comment is 7 months after the fact, however, I hope you got the Ok from the owner/lessor before attempting that repair. It is perhaps a violation of the terms of your lease. Also as a rental owner, doing my own maintenance work, I would not want to have someone leave behind a substandard repair that I would have to address before I could even tackle the real repair.

This video saved tub. Got the resin, fiberglass mat and the Bondo all purpose putty in grey and followed your steps. I need to find that primer and paint to color match now. I have 2 bathrooms so it allow me to max out setting times. I literally gave each step 24 hours to set because I notice that room temp is a factor. It’s officially autumn in Los Angeles so the colder it is the more setting time you need. Amateur tip: A small sander, space heater and box fan come in handy for this job.

@@DPTubs one more question…My tub has some grip on the bottom. When I prime and paint it, is there anything I can use to recreate the grip? Part of my crack was on the bottom of the tub where you get in. I don’t want it to be a slick spot and fall.

I bought a fiberglass kit with bondo. Will the mat work just as good as the hairy kind? First time doing this. Also on some other videos, i saw them drill random holes in soft spots also and fill with foam... Do you recommend this also? As this is in a old mobile home.

we have just got our first home and the large tub has a very tiny crack, much smaller than your cracks.. ~3 inches a very nice straight crack. Would you recommend we just sand it down and go straight for the bondo glass and skip the first step with the fiber glass resin?

Is the Bondo glass and smoothing putty absolutely necessary?
@DPTubs
@DPTubs Жыл бұрын
I personanlly like to for added reinforcement and smoothening it out. The bondo putty doesn't sand completely smooth so that's why I add a layer of smoothening putty.

Will this work for a big chipped tub? I don’t know if I am making sense, but my tub isn’t cracked with a hole but looks like big chunks are peeling. Will this work for that too? If so do I need to drill holes being that it’s not a deep crack but like the layer is peeling.

Same here. This video came right on time. I bought the bondo resin and bondo all purpose and notice that you have bondo fiberglass on another video. Will this do for me or do I need the bondo fiberglass as well? Great video and we'll detailed.

I usually put bondo glass over resin only if the crack is substantial. How much is your crack flexing or broken through? If you are able to compare the cracks in my videos you may be able to get an idea on when I choose to use resin or just bondo glass. If you use resin or bondo glass you will still want to use some smoothing putty to smoothen out

Thank you for this tip. I'm going to add Bondo glass since I'm on my first step with resin and need to sand it down. Then finish it up with Bondo putty. Thank you for this video..

Danny it is fascinating to watch you do these repairs. I don't know if I heard this before or not so, I am wondering what got you started? How did you learn? How long have you been doing it? How long have you had your own business? Do you do commercial properties as well as residential? Yes, just call me nosey. This has come out beautifully. I am glad your working in spite of what's been going on. Thank you so much for sharing. I will be looking forward to your next video until then I am keeping you and your's in my thoughts and prayers please stay safe, take care and God bless!
