I loved this! I'm reading a gardening book and it mentioned repairing your house, not replacing it. So to KZbin I went. This is the first video I watched and now I feel confident in replacing my hose ends the husband ran over with the car 😂 the house still works but now I can't connect 2 for a longer reach.

I would recommend using a socket wrench to tighten the hose clamp more firm. Also using a hairdryer will warm up the hose to install the fitting. Thank you for the video! My 8 year old hose end broke and its been the best hose I've used!

LOVED the boiling water trick! Before I found your video, I warmed my hose in the sun, used oil to grease it, tried dish soap, all to no avail. Boiling water was the game changer, thank you so much!

I agree with others. Thanks for the tip on the boiling water. I followed your instructions but still had a small leak. I took everything apart and applied the thin, white plumbers tape around the male coupling and my leak stopped. I love this tape. It helps to reduce potential leaking. I would not have been able to successfully repair my hose without your invaluable video.

I am so glat that helped. Thank you for letting me know. HOORAY for plumbers tape, too.

Thank you! We purchased a top of the line hose and the pressure knocked the tip off. Because of your tutorial we were able to keep our hose which had nothing else wrong with it.

Thank you for the boiling water trick . I am repairing a bunch of different hoses right now and have done many over the years on my 2 acres. Presently I am reviving several old hoses that have been rolled up in holders or storage containers/boxes and they are stiff. I was looking to find what softens an entire hose in general, besides laying in the sun. I found that it is a 15 min. warm water soak. Then I came across your video which will make my next 2 hose end repairs a little easier.😀 One thing I will add is that You can buy a set of 4, 6 or more of the same type hose repair ends on Amazon for at least 1/2 that price if you have alot repairs to do . Thanks again for the video. I am now folowing your channel as I am a S. FL gardener and always looking to learn more.😀

If you add a little water proof, industrial glue or caulk to the fitting before you push the hose unto it, it will add an extra grip for long use, and it helps prevent leaking... I've seen people use a blow torch to "warm" up the hose, but I like your tip using hot water better. Knowing me, I'd start a fire using the blow torch 😂. Thanks for sharing!!!, Lori

Thanks for watching. Thanks for the tips on the glue or caulk. If this doesn't hold, I'll do some more research and create an updated video. I wonder how those adhesives hold up in all this Northeast Florida heat?

Michelle, my hose is 5/8" but it has an inside seam that runs the entire length of the hose. It reduces the space to insert the repair piece. Any ideas what I should try? Thanks!
@michelleinthemeadow Жыл бұрын
Hey Ellen. That is a great question. I had to do a little research on it. On this site they person tried snipping out the seam for that bit of hose. It's worth a try. :) please let me know if that works reddit.com/r/landscaping/s/xUFiQbkF8D

@@michelleinthemeadow thank you Michelle! I will try it out this weekend and let you know how it goes.

So I learned that the hose I had was some type of commercial hose with a very hard plastic liner. I was able to cut out the seam but there was no getting a tight enough seal between the insert and the plastic. Thank you though - I'll be a more informed shopper the next time I buy a hose!

I've found that this type of hose clamp is not ideal. The end sticking out has the risk of cutting you while attaching it to the nozzle.

Michelle, they don’t make decent hoses anymore, everyone I’ve bought over the years has leaked like yours. It’s a little easier to use a wrench and socket to tighten the clamp I’ve found out over the years.
@michelleinthemeadow Жыл бұрын
So true. I am pretty hard on them, but you're right. Great suggestion. Thank you.
