Ive not finished yet, but thanks to this video I think I'm saving myself £300 just before xmas! All the people in my apartment block were saying it definitely needed all replacing, but it seemed like such a simple thing I refused to believe it was more than a seal issue. Though unfortunately I live in an apartment with annoyingly tiled in fittings, but with some contortion we are getting there. Big thanks Fraser!

What I thought was going to an expensive repair/replacement turned into a straightforward replacement of a seal - total cost £4-08p. Thanks for a great video.

Thanks so much, a really clear and helpful video - for a few quid and about 10 minutes (I have a really awkwardly positioned cistern) it is all sorted! Cheers

I had the leaking flush pipe issue and I've taken the lot out, lubed it up and re fitted but it's still leaking. I take it a rubber replacement would do the job aye? Geberit man. Pain in the ars 😂

Hi Fraser, This is a great and very useful video, Would you mind to let me know how much does it cost to fix this issue ?

I carried out the same seal change approx. 12 months ago and thought I'd fixed the problem. Had all the flooring redone only for the same seals to be leaking again ! Do I just have to live with this and accept they are a poor design or is there a more reliable solution I can retro fit using the same push button mechanism ? Any help would be appreciated.

I noticed there is no pipe fastener installed (243.070.00.1 Geberit flush pipe fastening for low-height concealed cistern) - Is this also the reason for leaks due to movement? In regards to your install, is it possible to not remove the WC. Remove the cistern tank from the flush pipe, whilst still having the pipe attached to the WC....replace the seals on the cistern and then re-insert cistern back onto the top of the flush pipe.
@fraserhoehle2256 Жыл бұрын
It would be difficult to replace without removing the wc, you could try and force it buddy. Leaks are due to the rubber seal perishing.
@hungyeung8400 Жыл бұрын
@@fraserhoehle2256 Our setup seems to have more access compared to the one you work on such that the cistern sits slightly higher up and we have reasonable access to the flush pipe and inlet valve connection. Hence I assuming one could disconnect the inlet valve connection, and unscrew the cistern from the wall; and lift the cistern up whilst holding the flush pipe to pop the pipe off. Remove the cistern out, replacing the seal and re-install back onto the flush pipe (whilst the other end is still connected to the wc)?

Which way round does the black rubber seal sit

Hi. Is it possible to replace this seal from the top of the cistern. My cistern is concealed behind a tile wall. A terrible design. Geberit have assumed that these seals last forever.
@fraserhoehle22568 ай бұрын
It isn’t sadly.
@DavidScott-mg6yv2 жыл бұрын
Can you advise how the seal fits on the pipe? I’m assuming that the pipe pushes all the way through the rubber seal, I’ve been trying to get the pipe through the seal, but seem to struggle to do so, pipe just keeps falling out!! Thanks PS this is the only video I could find showing how to take off and replace this seal. Thanks
@fraserhoehle22562 жыл бұрын
Hi david, have you lubed the fitting?
@DavidScott-mg6yv2 жыл бұрын
I lubed the fitting and the pipe, I could never get the pipe to go through the seal, the more I pushes the more the seal deformed. I finally took the cistern out and manually fitted the pipe with the seal on and then used a spanned to force the clip into place. I tested it in the bath, and it’s still leaking, waiting till Wednesday for another replacement seal and clip. Thanks again
@fraserhoehle22562 жыл бұрын
@@DavidScott-mg6yv maybe you put the clip and seal in the wrong way?

great video, have the geberit 109.720.00.1 , trying to figure out how to get to the seal from the top of the cistern as the bottom where the toile is connected is all tiled up so have to 'break' the tiles etc. and do not want to. Have full access to the cistern from the top. any thoughts?

we had a similar issue managed to get a long arm round from the top to underneath. not the easiest but can be done. you cant access it from the top

Hi Mate, you look like you have a good familiarity with these Geberit cisterns, I have a problem with one of these exact same concealed cisterns where it's leaking into the pan. (pita as it's a macerator toilet and the pump goes off randomly every hour or so) - I've read a lot about these Geberit flush valve seals blistering, can you tell me how to remove the flush valve to check? I'm hoping it's something easy like a 90 degree CCW twist. Hope you read this and can help!
@fraserhoehle22562 жыл бұрын
Flushing mechanism? Probs old and groggy sure you can actually just remove the flush mechanism by twisting it and it unlocks for easy replacement
