How to Repair a Military Poncho

I have one of the old school rubberized poncho, it’s in fairly good shape except for a couple of places that could use that patching tape . I buy lots of military surplus, yes I’ve noticed how the prices have gone up on ponchos. Also lots of other surplus. Thanks for this tip Jake. Alan R.

I've spent a lot of time under a military poncho both as rain gear and a shelter. That patching tape looks like a good way to refurbish an older poncho. Good advice!

This was an older poncho for sure. The USGI poncho is my favorite piece of shelter equipment

Yessir I still have it and use it! It’s held up really well!

@@jonmurphy7364 It happens lol. I will say patch the holes before you spray any waterproofing on it. If you spray first and patch second the patch won’t stick lol.

Look into arcturus ponchos .. considering you are taller you may like them they a little longer/ larger .. not as expensive either .. also their survival blankets are stronger than a grabber blanket

Their EM Blankets are definitely the best in the market, I didn’t know that they made ponchos

I’ve got both and it seems like the USGI ponchos are a little bit more heavy duty IMO
