Hey, guys.
So in today's video, we are going to be doing something a little bit different from our usual nail designs. Today, I am going to be showing you guys how to repair a nail that has lifted.
So, I've got Andrea in today and I'm going to be fixing her quite frankly damaged nail. First of all, I'm gonna strip this nail of the stones using some nail clippers and then we are going to push back to the cuticles using the cuticle pusher and then we are going to quickly file over it using the electric file and we are going to be just whipping around the top of that nail and then we are gonna also use a hand file to get rid of anything that has already lifted.
Once you've filed away that area you are going to wipe over the area with gel residue wipe off solution and then you are gonna fill in this part of the nail, so first we will dehydrate and then apply some acid based primer. Now you will grab a bead of Natural Beige and apply it directly to the area that lifted and then you will blend it in with a brush and rebalance that apex area.
Now, you will file over it and then buff it so that it blends into the nail and then you will wipe over it with acetone. We are gonna also use the Burnt Umber and Valkyrie gel polishes and then blend them into that nail and then cure that. After you're going to go over it with base coat and then cure it. Then we are going to use some gorgeous gold foil, wipe that back of it with gel residue remover and then stamp a little bit of it onto the nail and then I'm gonna topcoat just to seal it in and the cure it in the lamp. Finally, we are going to finish off with a little bit of cuticle oil.
There you are, guys. I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did, please give it a like, subscribe to our channel and I will see you in the next video!
Love ya!
xxxxxx
Kirsty

I will always drop everything to watch these videos. I do my own nails at home and have for about 5 years but it has really been in the last year that I have started making leaps and bounds on the quality of my nails. You have taught me SO much about structure and understanding the art of nail enhancements! Thank you for always putting out fun quality educational videos! 💕

This literally just happened to me a week ago. I caught my pointer finger (of course on my dominant hand) and the back half lifted! OUCH! But I got home, I used a sharp edged bit on my efile, and cut into my nail just before the lifting started- and when I got it close enough to my natural nail I switched to a hand file- and then filled as I normally would preping as normal- and it still took 2 days to feel normal after all that!! She is right- with everything you do, you can feel it come off more and more and it hurts!

When I have a lifted nail, by the time I've filed all the lifted part away, there's not much left and so much natural nail is exposed, and it seems like it's almost easier to just sculpt a new one. But that's just a personal preference for me.

I have been binge watching your videos today and I can't tell you how awesome they are!!! I went to cosmetology school back in 2004 and nails wear my things for sure! I got to say though most of what I learned about doing a great set of nails was through trial and error. I didn't feel like school taught us much. I took extra nail classes outside of school and practiced on myself as much as I could. I would say I was pretty good at doing a good set of nails, but speed was my down fall. I was slow and got about as fast as 1 hour 1/2 for a full set of French pink and white, which was awesome in my book. But not to the employers I worked for even though. They wanted you done in 40-50 minutes heaven forbid some wants a fun glammed up set of nails. Anyways I've been out of the loop of the nail world for thr last 10 years because I made a career move to professional motherhood and homemaker and home educator of my children. But watching your videos is reminding me of the passion I have for beautiful nail and creating art on a small space. I have gleaned tons of knowledge from you I never know or came across all those years ago. Your work is amazing and its even more amazing that you share it will all of us on KZbin! I can't thank you enough for taking time out of you life to do all that you do to make the videos happen. Thanks so much! Ps I love the sliver Sparkle hair strands in your hair from your previous video very pretty!

Your video on liquid to powder ratio and how to apply the bead to the nail was such a help since I have always struggled with product application. I am now getting into the habit of wiping my brush after putting the bead on the nail and before patting and pressing the product into place. Thanh you so much for clear and concise instructions!

Thank you so much for this video! I have wondered if there was a proper way to be doing this. I do my own nails, have no formal training and do not do anyone else's of course. I noticed you strictly used a regular nail file. Is that because it helps to prevent further lifting? I have always used my efile and am wondering now if I should stop doing that.

@@sugahgarden1961 I'm looking for info on e-filing the lifted areas, can you explain how you do it exactly and what bits you use? Thanks 😀
@Cpr-uw4ki
@Cpr-uw4ki 4 жыл бұрын
Natalie De Biase Sorry to wade in but saw your comment and thought I could help... i use a safety bit to file down the bulk of the entire nail, as a rule going over the same area no more than three times at once, going back to it after doing the same in other parts. As the acrylic becomes thinner this rule of three goes to two, then thinner again, it goes to 1. Once you can see lighter sections which indicate lifting I go just behind where that lighter area starts and file along the line and POP the lift should just separate and pop off. Once you’re well versed with this you could alternatively file the bulk of the nail down with safety but then swap to a diamond cross bit and use the top edge of the bit at an almost 60 degree angle to cut into the acrylic along this same lighter line just behind the lift to cut it quickly but be SO careful because this is a sharp edge hence cutting well and as soon as it breaks through the acrylic you have to stop so as not to cut into the natural nail. I highly recommend getting some e file training if you haven’t already with a local salon, Young Nails are the best in the biz. Good luck! 😀

Thanks so much for this! I was not sure what to do if this occurred now I know! I e learned a lot from your tutorials I am waiting to do my own nails u til I have mastered these techniques, I currently only practice on my practice hand and e@ch time I get better. I hope to be able to get my own set on by Christmas as I’ve been learning for over a year now online, I wish I could attend nail school unfortunately as I’m disabled (I was hit by a drunk driver in 2005 which left me with brain damage, seizures, chronic migraines and caused me to lose my entire pancreas, spleen, and gall bladder in 2009 due to internal organ damage I sustained from that wreck. I have no immune system so I can’t go to the nail salon. In fact that is why I started to do my own nails. I was getting a mani pedi at my local salon and even though I went during the week while children were in school the salon people had their sick child in the back which I didn’t know until too late. I contracted his stomach virus as did my dad who was getting his feet done too he was sick for 2 days I was hospitalized for 8 days and sick for over 3 months I lost 37lbs during that bout of illness suffered numerous seiUres and flat lined twice while in the hospital from this simple stomach virus it was then that I realized I couldn’t do the normal things others did anymore and as the 16th person to have the surgery to remove those vital organs and the 1st who had brain damage and seizures so the drs had no idea that could happen either, I was in essence their lab rat. So now I stay home on my family’s rural farm well away from the dangers of the outside world. If not for my family I would’ve died yrs ago so I’m very lucky to be here and I hope that by being their lab rat I was able to help the new patients to not have to go through what I have. Thanks for your posts they cheer me up and make my day I really enjoy learning from you!

CrazyAunt CC wow, I'm glad you're still alive and I hope you are still able to enjoy life. Learning to do nails so you can still have them is a wonderful thing! Sometimes looking pretty helps us feel good. Is there any possibility of you have transplant organs to replace the ones you lost? My brother works in transplant medicine at UMM and he was on the team that did the face transplant last year. I believe it was number 22 in the entire world and the most complete one so far. They did it on a soldier who was in an explosion and he had great results. That was a special case of course, but they do organs routinely. Usually solid organs like kidneys are pretty easy, I know pancreas and spleen and liver can be harder due to the nature of the tissue, but they are doing great things at UMM and many other hospitals as well.

I would love for you to do my nails. I have pachyonychia congenita and no salons will do my nails. I’ve taught myself to do free form acrylic and they turn out ok but take 3 hours to do.

Kristy what do you do for the nail fungus/ germs that grow from nails lifting and water getting next to natual nail? Uuugg im not experienced but learning and i did a dumb thing by not doing as your video shows. I didnt file enough away and filled the nail and wore them thinking i had done a good job. The things we learn in hindsight.

Would acrygel be the same process, or would you have to soak the whole thing off and start again?

Hi , I once got an intrapped airbubble in my nail and it lifted slightly and water and germs got inside. I got a moldy spot that would not go away! I had to strip my nails and let them grow out so I could cut that green spot off! Disgusting I'll have you know! 😂

Åsa Möllestål if that happens again, I’d soak in 99% alcohol and buff lightly

Soak it once a day in equal parts warm/hot water and vinegar, even works thru acrylic. Gone in 3 or 4 days
