That's a Snap On screwdriver! I can't believe that I bent it like that. Don't remember when or how! I ordered a piece of gasket material instead of the proper gaskets. I found links for them but they were too expensive. I'll make a couple of gaskets myself. I hope that the pressure regulating spool is Ok to use again. Very lucky to get it out! I saw a used valve body on Ebay for $550!!! No way!

So any idea what exactly that stuck piece controls? Would that be clutch pressure?

The one that was stuck is the pressure regulating piston. It has to be able to slide freely inside the bore and be subjected to spring tension on the outside and hydraulic pressure on the inside. When it relieves pressure, it does not just bypass fluid to the sump but sends that fluid to other components inside the shuttle clutch.
