Is that WD40 you sprayed in the segment? Did you use another solvent to flush the segment?

Yes, that was WD40. no did not used another solvent. thank you for the question.

@@restorationandrepair6013 experts say WD40 can be used to free the segment but should be flushed out or else the machine will gum up.

Without inspecting it, it's hard to say but possibly the linkage that connects the shift key to the carriage has come loose, you would have to take the cover off and look at the mechanism to check. It's 4 screws underneath and two ontop if you have a tippa.
