Thanks for the vid. My fabric failed so it wasn't the exact same issue. I should have used bulk cord like you did but I ordered replacement fabric and pre-cut cords from Amazon. Your instruction re the zap straps was a life saver as the cords were ~1-2 inches different so I couldn't simply mimic each side. Pretensioning really cut some time.

Edit: A few days ago i'd posted photos of how i did my zero gravity chair with 1/4" bungee, but they seem to have been auto-deleted. I'd thought you'd be interested to see the way i did it, but they disabled it. Basically, i finished it off with a knot, which i knotted to an "anchor-bungee" that i had fastened near the hinge at base of back-rest. For the time being, i left the backrest the way the manufacturers threaded it. I only repaired the leg-rest and seat-rest with 1/4" bungee.

Sounds like a good alternative method.

@@azdesertdog Thanks. I tried again posting just one pic, but even that was auto-removed. Note I did get 4 washers from my b.i.l. with 5/16" diameter holes, but not sure i could "pull" it off. Forgive the pun - but i never quite figure out how tautly to "pull" the bungee thru grommets, and the same would apply to washers. I mean, i'm relaxing on my newly-threaded chair, but can't be sure if i "pulled" the bungee too much thru the grommets. Maybe they should have been pulled less taut, so as to take longer to fray.

Hi, sir, do you know if all bungee's are safe with lighters? Secondly, if the inner diameter of my grommets is 5/16" can I Double-up 3/16" bungee throughout the entire length, and then, when it reaches the last grommet, perhaps use an oval-ring cut from a plastic-chain as an anchor (behind the last grommet) to knot the double-thread around? And would 1/8" Doubled-bungee fit better than 3/16"?
@azdesertdog
@azdesertdog 3 жыл бұрын
I have never had an issue with sealing the ends of bungees with a lighter, however, you should always use caution. I have not tried the doubled up smaller bungees but it does seem plausible. Good luck.
@minniyoutubaster
@minniyoutubaster 3 жыл бұрын
@@azdesertdog Many thanks for your feedback. But I still have the crucial 1/8" versus 3/16" question. Which of those sizes is the thickest i can get away with Doubled within 5/16" hole?? See - i'd actually go with Non-doubled 1/4" bungee, but the problem is, my fingers are too weak to work knots the way you do. Which is why I think it would be easier - in my case - to Double a bungee instead, so that way, i can more easily knot the two-ends around each other behind last grommet (with help of aforesaid anchor). That's why i ask - 1/8? 3/16?
@beans4jc
