Thats a 24 segment wheel. Its more for light smoothing. For what they did you would want a 9 or 12 segment or possibly more aggressive which is less segments with more attacking shape.

Yes, you should be able to find these blades that would fit the same grinder.

Grinding will take a long time like that in removing so much material when you have a lot of uneven slabs. Maybe easier jack up the slab and backfill. I've done it both ways. The pros use mud jacking but that is a lot of equipment investment for the DIY. Good job ladies!

Any idea just how long one of those diamond wheels will last under normal conditions and used as directed? Would you suggest running the garden hose at a slow trickle while grinding, to extend the the life of the grinder pads? Concrete dust is very hard on a shop vac motor. If this is my personal vacuum, I would add a water type filter between the vacuum and the grinder to capture dust prior to the vacuum. Same goes for drywall dust. Some wet/dry vacs have an downward extension tube to submerge the inlet.

The one we used and are happy with is the Makita 15 Amp 7 in. Corded Angle Grinder. And you can probably rent it from the hardware store.
@asinheaven4 жыл бұрын
When you assemble the three Makita parts: the diamond cup (spin-on) grinding wheel and the dust extraction shroud to the 7"angle grinder, do you use the inner flange and outer lock nut? Or is the spin-on wheel the only part affixed to the shaft? I get that the dust shroud has its own screw-band that tightens it to the grinder spindle.

Can the concrete be sprayed wiith water to decrease dust if no vacuum attachment available? BTW it’s very cool...not nerdy :). I have a patch of concrete I need to grind to redo some of the stain on the floor and don’t want to rent a big maintainer again. Good info on video.

Hi Sara! I did a quick Google search on the OSHA website to see what is recommended. It does appear that wetting concrete is a way to deal with dust. Please do more research on this before starting especially learning how to safely clean up and dispose of the wet concrete residue. ~Vicki

Omgosh you guys are just adorable. My mom's path is the same. She has special needs now,(though she'd never own it😉) n I'm so afraid she'll fall. How long did it take to grind that one edge? I LOVE the look of the exposed the pebbles too. I may not be able to stop myself from doing the entire path. After that mom and I can have special needs together. Sit for hours while she's 1-upping me about our 0-10 pain level and the best cures. 😂 Omgosh I love my mom. She's pushin 80 and still the most competitive person I know. I'm so happy to have stumbled across ur channel. Definitely 👍, subbed and hit that bell!

We used the cutting wheel first to quickly remove some of the height on the concrete, then smoothed it out with the diamond cup wheel. It was faster that way. Both tools we used are angle grinders, they just each had different types of wheels on them.

I rented the entire kit from a local rental store for $15.00/hr. or $60.00/day. I did not have to replace the grinding wheel because I did not break it. The rental agent said normal wear is included in the rental and gave me a spare wheel in case the first one wore out during the job. I did have to pre-authorize a $500.00 charge on my credit card as a deposit, but that was cancelled when I brought everything back in good order. Also I paid cash and received an additional 5% discount. Tip: Take care of the equipment as if it were yours. Do some rudimentary cleaning of the equipment before you bring it back. They will be happy and that can parlay into lower costs in the future. Remember! Rental firms remember bad customers, just like customers remember bad rental firms.
