How to take a damaged powerbook cord, cut out the bad section, and prepare it for reinstallation onto the PowerBrick power adapter. Watch our other video for how to install your "new" refurbished cord onto the PowerBrick.

You just saved me 120$! The outer cords correspond to the black wire in the powerbrick. I didn't cut up the plug, I found some thick plastik tube to use instead and I glued it to the box. Works perfectly! Thanks!

Elad Golan thanks! that part was missing!

Nice job! Thanks. Great tips, video and audio description. Would be interesting to use a metal crimp on the inside to hold the wire from pulling back. The super glue probably holds well though.

This is awesome. I spliced my cord back with nothing but a pocket knife and some electrical tapes. Thanks a ton.

Very helpful, thankyou. I don't have a dremel, but found a hacksaw just as effective for cutting back the plastic. I also opted to strip the internal wires off the pcb and solder them together rather than remove the pcb and solder that, seemed an easier fix.

You refer to two other videos, one for opening the power brick and another for putting it all back together. Would be nice if you'd provide links to those in the notes.

I agree. In video links are very helpful, especially in a case like this.

Thank you so much!!!! My dog just chewed right at the end of the brick and I REALLY don't want to drop $80 on a new charger. Thank you!!!

Use quickfix dc plugs kit and repair your dog chewed dc cable in 2 minutes. Very easy like changing your room lamp plug.

My magsafe was fraying at the jack that hooks to the mbp. Now the outer negative wire is completely broken. This heats up the mac and mets rubber on the wire, total fire hazard. How do I repair it when the wire to the end is gone?
@chrisbaker6849 жыл бұрын
The outer wire, the one twisted and heat shrunk, does that replace the black wire or white and green one on the circuit board?

Hi FogoFox, about the cables, witch is the positive and the negative? Thank you
@katewhite78295 жыл бұрын
I have two magsafe chargers; one is frayed at the connection to the macbook and the other is like this video. Do you reckon it’s easier for me to cut off half way and use the good connector to the mac to the good connector to the brick? Connecting to the brick seems a lot more difficult.

My cat chewed the wire in the middle of the cord. Can I just splice the 2 sections together using this technique? The power brick and mag safe ends are fine.

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me fix my charger. At a part of the cable, the white rubber is sectioned from the fatigue, but the grey twisted wires look intact. I was wondering what is their purpose exactly, and I'm thinking that they conduct electricity (can i get harmed if I leave them exposed, do they become hot?). I was thinking of covering it with some rubber tape so I don't have to work with a flame, but I'm scared that the tape will start melting . What do you think I should do?

If the cord is made up of nothing but power and ground why does the end of the magstrip connecter have 5 little copper leads at the end that connects to the computer?

for those that care this is two wires, some like mind, are only one wire. Splice that one wire and you're done.
