Acrylic nail powder and Acetone. All it is. Been fixing motorcycle fairings for years. Even better than this is to create ABS glue (I use lego pieces in a jar, cover with Acetone and melt it down). Best fairing repair you can make. Great channel though.

@@howtowithkel3352 I would love to see this as well I recently bought a bike with a few cracks in the plastics and its a starter bike and they don't make much for after market fairings for a Kawasaki ninja ex500d so I'm wondering a cheap solution to repair the plastic and maybe do a complete paint make over because im not in love with the yellow but I've never done any auto body or paint work so this is all super intriguing

@@stevengrande2364 Plastex Repair Kit - but you can use superglue and baking soda, that should work also, what i heared. i use an piece of broken fairing, remove all paint and cut it into small pieces. then add aceton in a glass, seal it and wait, the aceton dissolve the abs plastic and you get an good glue for repair. workes only with ABS! no PP or PET.

Rick, how are you? Don't worry we have all been there. What we used to do before all these new products hit the market was to get a soldering iron and some staples or paper clips. Lay the staple or paper clip acroos the crack and heat it with the soldering iron. After in sinks into the plastic let it cool and use whatever glue we had around to seal the inside of the fairing. You need to put a staple ever 2 inches or so. This is quite strong after the glue dries. Then flip it over, fill, sand and paint the outside. Go for it...

Hi Kel, just stumbled upon your videos and wow! So good. Thanks so much for sharing. I followed some of the links for the materials you buy and found that they lead to Amazon USA. How do you go about buying the 2 part primer & clear coat here in Oz? Thanks for your help, Oli.
@howtowithkel33525 жыл бұрын
Oli, how are ya mate? The products in the links are no longer available in Aus. This is what I am using right now. HICHEM 2K PRIMER FILLER GREY 1 LITRE 4:1. HICHEM 2PK PLATINUM MS CLEAR 1 LITRE 2:1. HiChem is available in most auto paint shops and is a great product. If you want to buy it online, you can get it from Variety Paints in Perth. Just copy and paste the capitals above. 3 day shipping Aus wide. I have use them a lot and have no complaints. If you need more help with anything, let me know. Kel

@@howtowithkel3352 Thanks very much for the info Kel, very helpful. You're videos have me itching to do some spray painting although I have no real need to spray anything right now. And buying guns and paint just for the fun is a bit rich for me. How did you go about matching the colour of your blue Suzuki. Looks perfect! Mine is almost identical in colour (GSX1250FA) and I am having a hard time finding colour codes. Regards, Oli.

@@oliwally Hey mate, your paint code is YUF and the colour is Alba Blue Metalic. Its a solid colour so matching should be very close. I will be doing a video on how to match colours soon. Kel

@@keithorlando6652 Hi, the product holds carbon fibre togetther very well. I tried black and clear powder. The clear I think is better because you can see the black powder and it would look a little ordinary if it were to be applied on an area that is very visible. Good luck.

you might find it easier, and more accurate, to apply the powder with a similar plastic bottle to the resin (you call it glue) with a slightly larger opening... thus avoiding the 'too much powder issue...

No disrespect intended, but it seems like you are just winging it with that product. Do the instructions say to apply that many layers at one time? or to over saturate the powder with glue which forces you to add more powder, then glue then powder etc...? I would think that a nice simple clean line would suffice for mot of these repairs if done properly. ??

I sure hope you did document the rebuild people love watching rebuilds as I would and I can tell you if you did you wouldn't still only have 2k subscribers. Your videos are great but they are to much of a niche content if you want to grow and have a channel that earns an income then hell yeah you need to document and rebuild motorcycles I mean how has no body told you this yet, you seem to know what your doing as far as fix, build and repair and your ok with the camera so start building and stop these little quick fix videos unless you want to have only 2k for life or do both but for God sake do some big rebuild videos please you could be rolling in views.
