You can sand and feather the edges with a damp sponge and leaves it no dust to clean up . I use a tile sponge, and they clean out easily if you are sanding large areas and need to rinse it out .

If you have a small place to texture your can lightly dip a small bristle brush in thinned out drywall mud and then flick the mud on by pulling the bristles back with your fingers and letting them spring forward toward the wall. The more you thin out the drywall mud the more fine the texture affect will be.

If you don't have a lot of texturing to do, you can use the spray cans. They are cheaper than buying a whole compressor and hopper system and a lot more convenient. If you're going to use them a lot, or texture a ceiling, my recommendation is to go with the hopper. The spray cans suck for ceiling texture. Definitely worth comparing the prices. If you go with the spray can texture, I HIGHLY suggest you go with the "pro-grade" cans. They shoot texture substantially better than the cheaper cans.

With such a small area to cover, there is no need to prepare and use so much compound. Texture compounds are available in small spray cans. You can choose the kind of texture you want from the different nozzles that come with the can.

i dont like all that work if i have some expanding foam in a can i will spray around the box and let it bulge out the hole then when dry use a razor blade to cut flat to wall sand it if need and primer the foam paint the texture often looks good enough but if not you can add a thin mud coat and texture spot prime paint my method is the strongest way and you may add some insulating properties as well

I have used texture in a can and it works pretty well. So if anyone out there is looking to cut a corner and doesn't have the big equipment for the texture there are some decent ones out there. They do NOT look perfectly blended but you really cant tell unless you are really looking. So if you are like me and don't mind a slight difference it'll work.

Instead of using joint compound, use cornice cement, it set like rock! on top of the cornice cement use filler, You dont need to use the mesh tape.. Also put cornice cement on the edges of the dry wall insert. If using the timber put in opposite way from the video, so you have 2 points of contact instead of one

- Introduction: The tutorial focuses on repairing damaged drywall around electrical outlet boxes or covers, emphasizing the importance of addressing hidden damage caused by impact. - Preparation: Ensure safety by turning off power from the circuit breaker. Measure and mark around two inches from the visible damage to create a template for cutting. - Repair Method 1: Utilize drywall repair clips by attaching them to the damaged area and securing them with provided screws. Measure and cut a piece of drywall material to fit the damaged section, then attach it to the clips. - Repair Method 2: Alternatively, use scrap wood such as a shim or a stir stick to support the damaged area. Secure the wood with drywall screws and attach the cut drywall piece. - Finishing Touches: Scrape off excess texture around the repair area for a smooth finish. Apply mesh tape and joint compound in layers, allowing drying time between coats. Sand the area to feather the edges, then apply joint compound texture using a texture sprayer. Finally, paint over the repaired area and reinstall the outlet cover.

Not sure why you ran the shim horizontal…way better structural strength going bertical
@FixThisHouse
@FixThisHouse 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I’m just demonstrating that a small shim could be used in lieu of the the metal clips. But yes, if you ran a longer sim vertical, much more structural strength. Int this case it’s just a small patch that doesn’t really need much strength to it. Also another option is using Hot Mud and mesh only which can be accomplished quickly. Many options. 👍🏽😊🙏🏽

I've done drywall for 6 years and it is never good to let your edges dry because you could see them it is better to sponge them to make the lines go away. Second your texter on wall is thick so your texter has to be harder and your hoper pressure should be lowe to they that thick but round texter.
