Thanks SO much. I had no idea this could work (as button worked barely, but had to press dozens of times). Saved me beaucoup bucks, as the alternative was to replace the entire pool control motherboard. I used two drops of 3:1 oil, a cheap engraver (I've had forever for unknown reasons) on a plastic card to protect the button. Now button works first push every time! Just ecstatic!

Brilliant advice! I had an old clock radio that had been given to us as a wedding present by the last Lord Leverhulme. It had such sentimental value, but my wife thought it was done for. But not quite! I used your tip but used Isopropanol to Alcohol instead of the hideously expensive, (in England anyway), Deoxit D100L. It worked brilliantly! Thanks very much.

Man oh man, I'm so glad to have found this!!! You saved me getting a new micro switch and soldering miniature contacts with my bad eyes!!! I used an electronic contact cleaner and an electric razor..the concept is brilliant. Thank you so much.

I fixed my Kawai es7 piano power button using this method! It was intermittent. Opening it up and getting to the button with Deoxit and pressing it a bunch of times worked! Now turns on straightaway!

Mahlkönig vario öğütücümün öndeki tuşları tam basmıyordu. Tam tuşları yenisiyle değiştireyim derken bu videoyu görüp deneyim dedim. İnanılmaz şekilde tuşlar eski haline geldi. Ben şırınganın içine kontakt sprey çekip yaptım. Titreşim olarak da tıraş makinesi kullandım. Gerçekten çok teşekkür ederim 🤗

Thank you for the video. I did it with my wife's acetone and it worked. One should move the top of the tact switch in circles in both directions. It helps a great deal. I didn't have the engraving tool so I pressed the button like 30-40 times.

I'd not recommend acetone. It can melt plastic and a lot of these buttons contain plastic.

@@p1repair Never mind. It worked for a while, then it didn't so I left that button out and am using the others on my Wireless-Indoor-Remote-Control-Outlet-Switch. :(

Hey OP, I came back to say thanks. I repaired my food dehydrator on/off button and induction stove on/off button with this, but I used wd40 instead because I cant find what youve used here in the Philippines. Thanks again.

How do you prevent the engraver from removing plastic from the button?
@ccff61613 жыл бұрын
Thanks, watched a few videos people pulling switches apart and rubbing down tiny discs with sandpaper! I followed your method on a dab radio with a dab/fm and 5 presets that had all stopped working, I used good old wd40 thou, worked perfectly, thanks again.

It's worth getting Deoxit when you can. It cleans electrical contacts better and in cases like this it will sit in that button and keep cleaning every time you press it for months or even years.

Thanks for the video! How often do switches like this get stuck in the DOWN (ON) position?
@p1repair Жыл бұрын
They don't, unless it's been damaged where the metal or plastic is deformed

@@ccff6161 it is amazing how none of you idiots would just tell me since you clearly know the answer. Here is a scenario: A guy decides to invest some of his time in order to make a video about extremely random shit, so he can help people. Then one of the people who needs help asks him for some clarification about his extremely boring video and the guy decides to just be a smartass instead of answering. WTF?
@RandomGuy-px8yr3 жыл бұрын
He uses something called Deoxit. From the name its prolly something against oxidation? If the volume buttons are tact buttons this will work.. In my case I used a little spray of wd40 which seriously penetrates and cleanses however idk the effect on the board itself on the long run. Good news is you won't need an engraver to hit the button too many times 😂 Have a nice repair

Any of the Deoxit products would probably work fine for switches if you already have it. My go-to is the standard red.
