Welcome back to another "How To" video! This one is all about how to fix up/repair/restore an old, tired SUP (Stand Up Paddeboard). The board is about 3 years old and came to me a few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to find an almost exact replacement to my old SUP that unfortunately
was bashed up beyond repair at the end of last season in a violent windstorm. The shape & size is perfect for the paddling I like to do up where I live in Big Bear Lake, CA.....V nose, 12 feet 6 inches long...tracks great and it's FAST!
The previous owners had taken ok care of the board, but it definitely
needed some TLC. There were some minor scuffs on mostly the top side, but the other spots included a sizable crack as well as other dings. Most were easy to repair with a kit (DING ALL) I ordered from Amazon, if you do a search a few will come up. I used a product called "SunCure" and so far am happy with the results!
All in all the prep work and epoxy repairs took 2 days.
The cleaning/taping/spray painting/artwork took 3 days.
I used 3 coats of paint (Rust-oleum Painters Touch Ultra Cover Paint + Primer) "Gloss Apple" and 2 coats of "Gloss Clear".
I could have done more work to make it look perfect, but I was forced to finish up faster due to not wanting to miss out on the rest of the summer! (and the rain was coming!)
The lovely model who is shown breaking the board in on the water is my wife....so please be nice in the comments ;)
