Hi! My S211 T Merc (non Airmatic, just rear air springs) lowers left end occasionally. If the parking surface is almost flat, it holds the pressure, but if the surface is not flat (e.g. parking in a ramp) it lowers in some hours. Firstly the left side, then the right. I think in case of spring leaking, it should be lower every cases. Am I right? Culd be the valve in the pump or level sensor? Thanks
@Nordic_Mechanic2 жыл бұрын
can be valving to some degree but if it goes way too flat it's a leak in the spring. Reason being there is a residual pressure valve that does not allow deflate under a set pressure. As far as level sensor you'd get error while the car is at height if they were faulty. Most of my merc knowledge comes from the S-class of the same vintage so it should be decently accurate

I removed the Wabco Continental ZSB suspension compressor on my 2005 Audi Allroad. I have a hard and steady 01397 code failure indicating the N111 solenoid was bad. I didn't see any bad wiring anywhere, so I removed the compressor. How do I bench check this compressor to confirm it's bad? It seemed to be working fine before it failed suddenly as I was driving it. Over a week or so it sunk down evenly to the lowest stops on all fours wheels. The numbers after Wabco are: 001 0424. Does this mean it was made on 2004? Thanks!

You have a steady code so solve that one first. The solenoid DO sometimes go bad and CAN be bought separately. Inspect all wiring 60cm from the compressor first. Ohm it out to the level control module then install the new vent solenoid on the compressor. Odds are it would solve it. But then again, I can only tell that you have 100% an issue with solenoid, level control computer (rare case) or wiring in between. Do not mess with calibrations, valve blocks or anything else until that code is solved. You'd only make it worse ! Id R&R the compressor while it's out and replace the drier material as it's probably full of moisture by now. Only a few people familiar with air suspension ever think about water in the system. Audi does not put that in the maintenance book, sadly. Happy wrenching!

@@Nordic_Mechanic thanks! It was a wire just past the pin, of the solenoid plug. I had to depin and solder. Then put everything back. Works fine now. Thanks! It was a fun job. Dirt in eyes and all that good stuff 😆

after a sharp slip in a car wash conveyor chain my compressor that used to sound like a Jack hammer now just sounds smooth and malfunction warning came up..I can hear the compressor smoothly but no lift..could it be a shot compressor ?
@Nordic_Mechanic3 жыл бұрын
if it sounded like a jackhammer then it was either on it's way out or rattling on the frame from worn insulators. If you have a pre facelift model the compressor is mounted lower, and you could have broken the line off. Malfunction scan and visual inspection needed. If you are missing the splash shield it's easy to damage a line. Code will include a air leak detected . Inspect and rebuild compressor, clear the codes. Shouldnt be too expensive. Good thing you can hear it, so the motor is not fried. The compressor will overheat so better not drive until it's fixed. You'll damage the suspension bushing if you do or worse, the front bumper.

@@Nordic_Mechanic Thank you for your reply Indeed I do suspect it was a failed compressor.and for it to suddenly sound smooth it must be shot out so maybe a new compressors in store..hopefully they are easy to replace and wont need a valve body as I do not hear any hissing even though I can hear the compressor working and no lift at all Thanks again.

@@blackpanther025 probably worn cylinder and piston ring thus it's not building pressure anymore. Valve block is a completely separate part and in a spot it cannot have been hurt by the car wash

at least on a audi a8 04-10.. same compressor on mercedes s class too
@Nordic_Mechanic3 жыл бұрын
@@blackpanther025 you can rebuild the pump for pretty cheap, as seen in this video. You wont need a valve body unless your car raises up crooked. And it was fine prior. You'll have to inspect for leak in air spring in case a leak caused the failure of the pump. Not the type of car you want to throw parts at without a definite diagnosis

how do you remove the dryer seal/cover for the one way valve on the cylinder head? I know you said don't remove it, but I need to replace the whole cylinder head too.

Pry it off. just dont lose the spring

My wabco accuair endo ct compressor is intermittent. When it turns on it sounds healthy. I have the compressor out of the tank and am looking to try and fix it. Any ideas?
@Nordic_Mechanic3 жыл бұрын
start with a new relay just in case. Then next step would be inspecting the commutator. What kind of control do yo use? A defective pressure switch can cause it as well
@quicksno3 жыл бұрын
@@Nordic_Mechanic it's a unique setup as it's the accuair endo ct. It was engineered and made so that the compressor was enclosed in a modular air tank. So the pressure sw, relay, ect.. is all potted to or on the compressor and in the tank. As it's modular the tank can be opened and the compressor removed. However since the circuit board is potted it's just about impossible to diagnose and repair the unit. I learned most of this after my comment yesterday. Needless to say that accuair went bankrupt after a year or so from bringing this product to the market. Everyone that was made has failed, or will fail. I was hoping to find a "hack", but have resigned to scrapping the compressor and just using the tank. Anyhow thanks for your replying

My air compressor will come on if i give it power with a Power Probe .. but it pops the breaker inside the Probe .. do you think this may be due to the dryer full of water and creating a short inside .? Also where can i order a rebuild kit .?
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
How many amps is your probe? Never seen a probe able to run a air compressor before. No, dryer wont create an electrical short
@robertquinones9434 жыл бұрын
@@Nordic_Mechanic Not sure the amps but it's a Power Probe 3 .. maybe it's not suitable for running a compressor.. it'll run it for about 30 seconds before popping the breaker ... however when I run a power wire directly to the relay to power the compressor it runs fine ... so another question - with the compressor running should , if I unplug the hose going to the filter should I be able to feel it sucking air .? Or is there a way to be able to tell if the compressor is actually pumping air .?
@Nordic_Mechanic4 жыл бұрын
@@robertquinones943 Your power probe just cannot run that much current. When you put the wire the relay is taking the current so it runs. Yes you will feel it sucking air at the filter inside the wheel well (if your car is the same brand and model) I can tell the health by the sound of the compressor alone when it runs. You can see the pressure it pumps in software. You can tell it to fill the air tank and youll see how much pressure it's able to deliver :) System design is around 15 atm. 10 atm the car will run, but will take longer to raise and the pump will run longer when needed to run.

Can a problem in the compressor cause the car to sink down over night? And what in the compressor would cause this?
@Nordic_Mechanic3 жыл бұрын
No. The compressor do not works with engine off except land rovers. The car stays up unless some spring leaks. In the a8, the car checks and reajust level for 10 hours to compensate air cooling down or warming up but all corrections are done with the air accumulator (tank). Air up the car and put it in service mode to desactivate suspension control and youll see which corner is the leak from
