My 06 GT is still running the original water pump and I’ve been planning to replace it with an Edelbrock hi volume pump. I’d heard Mustang pumps were incredibly difficult but after watching this it looks very simple and straightforward. Thanks.

Ya I don’t know why they’d say that. Especially after having electrical fans instead of a fan clutch and everything. Best of luck. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching!

This helped out quite a bit. Gonna try and do it on my 05 GT here soon. Was stuck in traffic and it took a little while but I noticed everytime stepping on gas my gauge would go up more then it usually sits at. I’m sure this water pump hasn’t been replaced since the dinosaurs gone extinct so I’m gonna go ahead and replace it soon. Thanks for the help will watch video thoroughly again when doing it

Thank you for this video. I’ve got a 2009 mustang GT. As soon as I added water into my reservoir, it started leaking at the bottom. Time to change that water pump. 🚘👍🏿

My stang just started leaking bad on my drive up north from California. As I would fill it at the gas stations instant leak and it wasn’t coming from any hoses or radiator. Thanks for the info, bought everything I needed and going to tackle this job tomorrow 👍🏽. Curious what went bad on the bad water pump?

I’m glad I was able to help! You should be able to knock it out quick. So, with all water pumps usually they just get slop in them where the internals wear out. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I heard that u need to pull a plug somewhere above the water pump using an allen key to let the air out of the system to further avoid heating issues its a metal plug the size of a half daller. Is that necessary? The guy said if u dont do that there will always be air there. And with pure coolant that air wouldn't be there. Its called the top coolant plug it sits at the the end of the top from the radiator.

Ya it’s a place to purge air and is a good idea to use it, just to be sure. But, this car it was stripped so I filled it without it. Which is ok too it runs fine no air in the system no over heating issues. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

My purge valve was stripped to so I just took the hose going into the coolant reservoir and squeezed it until I didn’t see anymore bubbles
