Great video guys!!! I just replaced the original water pump on my 2010 focus with 240000+ miles. I'm so glad it was a 2010 because you only have to remove the serpentine belt from the water pump.

You only have to do that here too. You don’t need to go through the wheel well just jack motor up, not down.

At least it's not one of those stupid internal water pumps driven off the timing chain. When the seal leaks water goes into your oil instead of on the ground.

Firestone tried charging my sister 660$ for parts and labor. I ended up getting a pump at AutoZone for 60$ and did it myself in about 45 min. I didnt need to take off the tire or that second belt; I was able to get it all from up top. Needed that prybar and block of wood that was a lifesaver. All in all ended up saving her about 600$

you could have left the coolant reservoir hoses in place and just set it aside, there's enough slack to move the tank with the hoses still attached towards the driver's side.

Can't tell you how many motor mount bolts I've broken trying to just gun them off with an impact. Take your time! Do it with a 1/2 inch wrench!!!

Ford made a great motor for the escorts 1997 on up ! 2005 then they made it even better by going timing chain and relocating water pump ! One thing ford needs to do is make a heater core that will last !

I'm looking at mine and I have a couple questions. 1). Can I do it from underneath? That looks way easier. Everyone seems to jack it up but I can get to it from the bottom. 2) how do you hold the water pump pulley from turning when you loosen the bolts. I haven't taken the serp off yet so that should be holding tension

We haven't tried to replace the water pump from underneath. The method shown in this auto repair video seems to be the easiest way.

How do you narrow it down to see what it if it's the water pump or the overflow?

Usually when a water pump goes bad, it will start to leak under the water pump through the weep hole. You may also notice the vehicle running hotter than usual. Hope this helps you out.

I’m not a mechanic, but I think you can do a combustion test on the radiator to check if exhaust gases are getting into the cooling system, which signals a head gasket problem

For starters usually a bad water pump will start to leak or drip antifreeze from underneath when it goes bad.

When you are done top off the radiator with radiator fluid (when the engine is cold before you start the car) and blast the heat in the car. Also top off the radiator reservoir before doing this so that if the radiator pulls more fluid from the reservoir if it needs to. Hope this helps you out.

Had this mechanic say a bad pump will cause water and oil to mix . I think that's bogus. Thought the only way would be cracked engine or blown gaskets/ seals?

Instead of removing all the stupid nonsense why not just pull the belt off the water pump take pulley off pull pump then reverse? Wheel fender well was not needed off or the AC belt
