I'm installing two basement windows at my daughter's house tomorrow. This was exactly what I needed to have the confidence I needed. I can sleep well. Thank you.

Brilliant video. It’s exactly what I had to do today with one window in our basement. Now I have tools and the knowledge to complete it properly. Thank you! 😃👍

Are you cutting the shims or lraving them in place? Or removing them altogether??

what was the dimension of the new window and where did you purchase it?

Good instructions but. Did you drill screws into concrete or you drilled holes first?
@RocketMan2004 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. No BS....to the point. You make it look very easy. What type of screws did you use, and did you drill into wood or concrete.
@maintenancemadesimple44294 жыл бұрын
I just used 1-5/8” dry wall screws because it’s interior. I drilled into the top plate and the rest is secured with shims and the spray foam!
@houceonfire4 жыл бұрын
Maintenance Made Simple what would you do if the top was also concrete? Just fill with foam without screwing it in?

Thanks for the video. When you measured for your window, how big was the rough opening and what size window did you get? Did you special order them?
@atarileaf2 жыл бұрын
The general rule is subtract an inch from your rough opening so a 20" x 20" opening would require a 19" x 19" window

Do you pull out the shims after foam is dry, and fill the gaps with more foam?
@szargos Жыл бұрын
You score the shims and break them, leaving them in there.

First of all thanks for the video, well done. In your experience, what is the pro and cons of sealing with caulk, Dynaflex 230, as oppose to putting a skin coat cement?

did you foam the top of the window from the inside too? In the last part of the clip, it looks like it didn't have foam - just had the shims in place.

Throw you demo materials out the window so you don’t have to pick them up twice.
@user-io4jl4jx9q4 жыл бұрын
bro, how 'bout some anchors into the sides and bottom of the window? 2 up top and a can of foam is a joke and is NOT secure.
@sethdetwiler29454 жыл бұрын
What he did is enough for that size of window
@chrisgrant39392 жыл бұрын
Screwing the window to the concrete can cause the window to crack due to expansion

When you stand on the other side of the room, we have to turn the volume all the way up to hear you. When you turn away and talk, no one can hear what you are saying.
