Great video! Thankyou. Couple tips, grease the seal rubber when you put it on and maybe to the ignition turn prime 6 or 7 times and should be good to go. Cheers again!

Glad it helped and Thanks for the Tips 👍🏽 I did the filter a couple of times in my ownership and usually it took 3-4 Times and it started up. Moving to ignition, only started the pump once or twice, you had to start it a few times to get it going.

Great video 👍🏾. Does the astra j have a timing belt or chain i have 70 thousand on the clock is it time for a belt change
@noorshah963 жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍🏾 Yes, the 1.7 diesels do have the belt. I could be wrong so double check the manual for your specific model/engine but generally it's 100,000 or 6 Years for a timing belt change.

Is this the same process for Astra 1.4 petrol and the same size of filter?

I don't have personal experience but I'm pretty sure it's very different. Probably a metal one.

When taking out the first nut , when the fuel starts draining , does it stop eventually?
@noorshah963 жыл бұрын
Oh it does stop eventually 😁 It's only the fuel present in the filter and the housing

@@noorshah96 Thanks. I have seen another similar video where the person bleeds the fuel system. Is it necessary to do this? Also is it necessary to disconnect the fuel line? Thanks for your quick response
@noorshah963 жыл бұрын
@@kwaggapoot9834 Yeah I think I've seen it too but it doesn't make Sense to me to do that unless you are having issues or something is gone into the fuel tank. Filter element change should be enough to maintain the car. Hope it helps.

good movie, everything is clearly shown bym I would like to add that if someone has an Astra from 2010, the fuel system is vented manually.😁

I believe they mean to bleed the air out or prime the fuel system with fuel before starting the engine

Can't get my filter housing off to change filter I've got 36 m socket but it's solid and I don't want to force it in case a break the housing, any tips
@noorshah9628 күн бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. I was in that situation once. It's difficult to gauge if you're going to hard or not....but you have to somehow get a good solid grip on the housing above and then apply the torque so the whole thing is not moving. If I'm not mistaken, you can actually remove the housing form the frame as well.

Sorry to hear that mate and apologies couldn't get back earlier. I hope you have it sorted by now 🙂 but if you were to give a bit more detail maybe? I believe you might have taken the hoses off the filter housing? Which you don't have to unless need to change em.

Wrong wrong and once again wrong. Don't recommend people to turn key few times ! This car doesn't have pre-pump system. Doing like that people will stuck with air bubbles in common rail system ! THE ONLY RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS IS TO UNPLUG FUEL CONNECTOR UNDER BONNET (BLUE COLOUR) AND CONNECT 10MM HOSE. YOU HAVE TO USE SUCTION PUMP OR EVEN OWN MOUTH TO SUCK DIESEL. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE TURNING KEY FOREVER AND FINALLY INJECTORS WILL GET AIR BUBBLES. ONLY RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS FAST AND IN CORRECT MANNER IS DOING FUEL PRIMING.
@noorshah963 жыл бұрын
@Luke Thanks for pointing it out. That's how I had seen it and did it this way. I have done it twice over the years and never had a problem. I believe there will be diesel in the fuel rail already no? The last time I did it, the car started in first or second go. I would ask people to report if they had any issues.
