Good video. I have the same exact bike but in black. My bushings fell off and I initially thought the spring was the problem. I ended up figuring it out. Thanks for the video.

If you flip the retaining pin the cotter pin will be on top which will reduce the chance of bumps and rattling from making it fall out

That's how my 2007 1200 Custom is, the cotter pin is on top

Thanks for the video brother I just lowered the back of my bike it's a 2013 Street Bob I went back with Burly Slammer shocks and I ordered myself a 1-inch under kickstand from J&P Cycle when I install that is it going to be pretty much the same procedure as you just demonstrated thanks brother hope you have a good time riding that scooter good looking back

I used the old penny trick to extend the spring, ten pennies (five a side) in between the springs coils extend it enough so that you can slip in onto both the hole in the stand and the grooved boss on the frame. After the spring is in position simply pull the pennies out of the coils and it will retract to it's original length. I couldn't be bothered with reusing the corroded clevis pin and pretzel clip so I used a 3/8-16 x 2-3/4" stainless steel bold with a stainless thin nyloc nut, so there will be no more corrosion on my jiffy stand's pivot.

Hi... how and where do you install the jiffy stand sensor on HD 2008 sportster. Will appreciate your feedback.
@TheEnergizedcinema3 жыл бұрын
video helped me out a bunch! thanks!. is it normal that when installed you can wiggle the kickstand up and down when kicked out? since the holes where the pin go through are not round but more oval shaped

My kick stand won't stay down unless I hold it while placing the bike weight on it. Will a new kick stand stay down on its own?
@XenaTheQuadCamBikah Жыл бұрын
The pretzel clip goes on the top of the clevis pin not on the bottom and the bushings need to be lubricated or they won’t last. I bought my 2004 Sportster new and just now needing to replace these bushings and clip . I’ve always cleaned and lubricated them so they can last if given regular maintenance.

Mine's literally got the primary cover in the way of dropping the pin in, so I gotta put it in upside down so nothing but prayers and the cotter pin are holding it in there until I need to pop the primary cover for something.

Hey @DualEx, I have the same nightster and the forums are saying it's a 3.7 inch spring. But when I received it, it was way too short (couldn't figure a way to pull it 2 inches even with the penny trick) and yours looks more like a 4.1 inch spring. May I have the dimensions of your spring please and the brand? Many thanks.
@Dualex_Builds6 жыл бұрын
honestly its a random spring from the hardware store. I got a few different sizes and went with the one that fit the best.

Hey guys, I need your help. Amazing video btw. At 2:26 once you put that pin through, what is that nub or nut sticking out called attached to the frame? I went over a bump and that part completely broke off. Harley is charging me $600 is attach a new nut in.
@creepyfetus6 жыл бұрын
Lucian Black did u ever find a fix for that?
@peterham71306 жыл бұрын
You will have to weld another nub onto the frame. It's originally part of the frame so there's no replacing it with a bolt on part.

my spring keeper got knocked off going over a curb now i had to Jerry rig the kick stand on witch sucks i have to unhook the stand from an extra spring.

Hey ,where did get that sissy bar?
@DaveSkillzGaming2 жыл бұрын
Cotter pin in the topside is better especially if you use an extra washer or two so it holds tight preventing it from jiggling around, I have to replace the spring on mine no mater what they just unwind from tension and a year or two later you have the stand flopping under the bike
@danielcappetto40353 жыл бұрын

Hey nice video the spring on my 95 sportster broke twice and I was informed that I was inserting the hook on the stand the wrong way and it puts too much tention on the spring causing it to fail just reverse the insertion of the hook on the stand , I worked for me hope this helps someone : )

easier way is to remove the split pin then take the cotter pin out attach the spring ,then put the kickstand in place lined up to insert the cotter pin then the split pin. And no fiddling or stretching the spring whatsoever, i had to do mine tonight took minutes to do .
