How to Replace a Motion Sensor Light

Replacing an outdoor lighting fixture with a motion activated spotlight can conserve energy and increase home security.
Warning! Electricity is inherently dangerous. If you are installing a motion sensor light in an area where there is currently no outdoor light, you’ll need to contact an electrician to wire the fixture for you. What if I only want to use the motion censor without the lights? What should I do with the black cables in each socket? Cut them and the put a wire but individually or put them together on each socket when I cut them? Thanks for your help.

I have two motion sensor lights both operate from the same switch (on off) the light I am changing has a separate motion detector to the wall lamp. The new lamp has a built in detector. We’re the old detector is there’s 2 black 2white and a red. I believe the wires are there to send power to the other motion.Mabel I should just get a electrician? Thanks

you showed that you unhooked the red wire that hooked to the black wire. But you never hooked that wire back up? my directions say to hook the red wire to the black wire, but my led 100 watt light will only come on dim & never goes off, the wiring diagram appears to be wrong it only shows the Junction box & the light it does not show the motion Security Floodlight Sensor,
