Great video, easy to understand the way it is filmed, lots of information and no fluff. Just ordered some replacement springs to refurbish and old couch. Thank you!

I didn't realize how poorly made our platform rocker was made. Instead of clips, the springs are stapled on. Amazed they held this long. Anyway, one spring broke and in measuring them I discovered the springs are 12 gauge. Going to get the 'standard' 8 gauge WITH clips. Very informative video, Thank you so much!

Howdy Ms. Amie. I’d love to see how you upholster that. I have a very similar chair only it’s rocker but with the exact same springs. I’m getting ready to recover the cushions but it would look better to properly upholstered it or at least properly cover the springs. This chair currently has a pad over the springs and then just a simple cushion on top of it, therefore it looks sorta “unfinished”. Thanks for the vids!

Great video! Thanks so much! Have ever replaced No-Sag spring in a midcentury sofa or chair that does not use clips? I'm tackling a a teak framed Benchmark sofa with no-sag spring ends that are bent to 90-degrees and inserted directly in the wood (like a peg). Ever see anything like that? I'm reluctant to add clips to a piece that wasn't intended to have them. Thanks so much for this and all your other great videos--very useful + concise/detailed delivery!

Hi Amiee, Great video!! What size nails are you using to attach the clips with #14? Also, you should be wearing eye protection any time you are working around the springs. One slip, if a nail comes loose or snaps... Keep up the great work 😷.

How do you know when the zig zag springs should be replaced? I’m working on a chair now, they seem saggy but maybe I can add new little springs or re-tie them ???

I am replacing springs, but the chair back bottom cross bar is in the way for proper nailing the clip. Can I attach the clip to the outside back part of the chair? Or, what would you suggest?
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio 3 жыл бұрын
There are different clips for that. They are longer and have a bend in them so that they can be nailed on the back of the chair but still sit flush to the frame. The spring clips should always be flush to the front of the frame when installing them.

Very informative video. Well executed. Do you ever just replace all the springs since they are possibly fatigued. Or is that overkill. Do you ever put two springs in where there is one for fat people?
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio 3 жыл бұрын
I think those are both good ideas. Springs do get fatigued and sometimes rusty if they’ve been stored somewhere moist.
