Excellent video and very detailed on how to replace crystals with both tension ring and without it. I really like all of your videos. You are very professional. I know this is an old video but I saw you use a Robur press. I just bought one, but it seems like it has a lot of side shake on the spindle. Is that how they are supposed to be or it’s just mine that came like that? Thank you for your help and for the great videos!

Very timely for me as I just received a Robur press from Cousins and am getting used to it. A couple questions if I may: 1. I'm assuming that the metal die is beveled? I also got the die set and they all are beveled. 2. Did you apply what looks like felt to the bakelite dies? Thanks.

Your video was very valuable to me. I'm installing a new glass on a watch with a case very similar to the watch in your video. I noticed that this watch of yours does not have a bezel. Is it common for watches without a bezel or is this watch missing the bezel? I wish you much success on your channel and happiness with your children. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Nice clear instructions thankyou! I'm in need of advice, I have a citizen eagle 7 with plexiglass domed crystal that has a chapter ring pushed into the plexiglass! Would I be right in thinking the chapter ring acts as the tension ring ?

What size should the crystal be, relative to the case opening, if using a tension ring crystal? In your example, it seems like the case maybe had a 31mm opening? So you used a 31.1mm crystal with tension ring (0.1mm oversized to generate tension), or a 31.3mm crystal without tension ring (0.3mm oversized to generate tension)? Is this correct?

Hello Doc, Can you please tell me what is that tool called which you used to fit the acrylic crystal ?
@patrickarellano4823

The press that you use? What is it called? The presses I see online doesn’t have the fitting that bends the plexiglass

I tried doing this (with albeit a cheaper press) and it cracked the acrylic crystal. Chipped a corner off actually. Ugh. I'm going to try the claw tool shown in the beginning next.

Very good video. However, watch crystals are made of lucite, not plexiglas

PS. While I can call myself an eye doctor I am nowhere near the standard of being called a watch doctor! For one thing I do my watch work using a Zeiss surgical microscope which works well.
