Your video was fine until you left out replacing the new screen step and you should have showed step by step instructions instead of interrupting it with it being finished. One minute you’re putting the part on and then it clicks to the part being on. Would be nice to see how you fastened each part back on the screen completely. I realize people have a short attention span, but there are those with patience to see exactly how things are done. It was helpful and more helpful than those I’ve seen. Thanks for posting!

Great video! A few small steps missing, but with a little smarts and some patience I got it done. I add this little nugget. If the iphone doesn't come on after you put it all back together you may have to reset the battery/phone by unhooking the battery. So, in order to have to open the phone back up I recommend unhooking the battery while you have the phone apart. It'll save you a few minutes.

It shouldn't be a problem. The connectors snap together anyway and the cover plates generally hold them in place. As long as you can assemble it correctly, it shouldn't be an issue if it is a bit loose.

I think I mixed up some of the screws could that be why? I don't know. If you know why it wouldn't be turning on that would be awesome.
@MichaelKlements7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, Sorry to hear you haven't come right. I doubt that mixing up the screws would cause the screen not to come on, the pieces would just not fit that well together anymore. I would say that most likely one of the connectors is not seated properly or not contacting properly. Try reversing your steps and taking it all apart again and then putting it back together and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, try fitting the old screen again just to check that nothing is wrong with the motherboard. If the old screen still works then you probably just have a faulty replacement screen, this is not that uncommon. Just send it back to the supplier and request a new one, they are usually pretty happy to help.

@MichaelKlements5 жыл бұрын
Verky, you’ll also need to move your home button across to retain the Touch ID functions. As for your problem, that shouldn’t be happening. Try replugging in all of the connectors, if the camera and earpiece still do not work then you’ve likely got a faulty replacement or you may have damaged the ribbon cable or connector to that assembly as they’re both in the same assembly with the same connector.

Adrianne Green Walker I doubt you'll get the 5C components to work, the designs are very different. You can order the missing pieces though, the sensor is the only really important one to keep. Otherwise order a complete screen assembly with all the components already mounted, then replace the sensor and that should work perfectly.

HI ive done repairs like this before. It looks like you replaced the LCD included with the touch screen glass & not just the touch screen glass on the front. Is that right? Is it possible to buy just the front glass & replace that if the old phone's LCD is still working? Usually the glass on its own is cheaper. But can the touch screen glass be replaced on its own or do you have to buy a replacement LCD included in the repair kit? Thanks
@MichaelKlements5 жыл бұрын
Chrissy Watkins yes it is possible to do. You’ll find that it is really really difficult to remove the old glass without damaging the LCD panel and it’s difficult to put the new glass on without any bubbles forming. It can definitely be done and I’ve attempted it before with some level of success but it’s really not worth the frustration to save a few dollars.
@Shona6325 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelKlements Thanks for your reply. I've decided to replace the whole LCD/digitizer & not just the glass. It will be easier & they are cheap enough but I don't want to end up with a low quality one. There are so many 'Non-original & Repaired or Refurbished' screens out there. I think OEM is no guarentee that it is of the best quality either. But you get what you pay for. Any recommendations on where to shop for a good one for an A1687 model? I've checked out eBay & Trade Me (n.z) Thanks again.
@Shona6325 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelKlements Yeh I have done just a glass replacement on a Samsung in the past & as you said it's not easy to separate the glass from the LCD as some phones use LOCA glue which is cured under UV light (and its a hassle as I had to use fishing twine to divide the LCD from the digitizer & then use isopropyl alcohol to clean the lcd) The LCD is so fragile it doesnt take much to damage it! So it's easier to do a complete replacement. My question was more related to whether or not it is possible to replace just the glass on the iphone 6S Plus model. But I've decided to do a complete replacement incl the LCD. Thanks again

can I use the screen from an used iPhone 6?
@MichaelKlements7 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely. That's probably better because it will be an original iPhone screen so it's better quality than these cheaper replacements.
@Klynch1117 жыл бұрын
Michael Klements if I buy a replacement screen with the touch Id button with it, will that touch id work or Do I need to use the original one, I'm reading reports that that is indeed the case?

Hi , i just dropped my phone and it cracked but also the screen is black with a few blue and red lines. Is that fixable or i crewed it up ?
@MichaelKlements7 жыл бұрын
It's probably just the LCD panel that has gone, changing the screen assembly as shown here should sort it out. I have heard of one or two instances where the actual logic board has been damaged by a drop but its quite uncommon.
@azim1707 жыл бұрын
yeah i agree with that, it probably just only lcd..

EBay or Amazon are great sources of replacements.

My girlfriend needs her screen replaced, so should I buy a screen without the home and camera buttons on it, or if I buy the complete thing, is it easier that way? And replace all at the same time, would touch ID still work?
@MichaelKlements7 жыл бұрын
Keith Lynch, buy a screen without the components on it. You’ll need to swap the home button around either way as it often causes problems if it’s replaced. It’s really not difficult to move the components across.
@haiche82677 жыл бұрын
it's pretty difficult if you are doing it for the first time. The cables are paper thin and can easily rip. If you can buy with components under 100 dollars then go for it. The only thing is that the touch id will only work with the home button that came with it and that's the only thing you have to transfer over.

Does the LCD screen you replace with is original or just high quality?

Im just pissed when I pay someone to fix my phone and the screen looks like a android screen. I payed him about 20$
@MichaelKlements6 жыл бұрын
It depends on where you get the replacement from and generally how much it costs. You can get really high quality generic replacement screens, you can get refurbished genuine apple replacement screens or cheap knock offs.
