You forget about the possible air bubble When removing a thermostat there could be a air bubble.....so make sure after installing the thermostat that you allow to run while the radiator cap is removed allowing the air in the engine to release the possibility of the air bubble reive it 1 to 3 times till you see the antifreeze go down and allow to go back to normal then top off with more antifreeze if needed

Interesting video but it comes up short because you did not show the actual removal of the bad thermostat but only the conclusion.

@UCYp5UrJUIaTA3NiWWoG9sGA Thanks! You don't state what your issue is but I'm guessing your vehicle is overheating. I would make sure your cooling system is topped off and air is bled out completely, your thermostat opens up at around 190-195 degrees farenheit which is the same time your fans should come on. If the fans run good with straight battery power I would suggest troubleshooting as per wiring diagram. (Simple check is fuses & relays to start) Repair manual is probably saying 9 liters of total coolant in the entire system, if you replaced your thermostat it would most likely take about 3 liters or so.

I didn't see you take the radiator hose off the thermostat housing. Is that necessary or can one skip it?
@stevensautomotiveexperience8 ай бұрын
No need for that, you can skip that step.
@austinhampton4529 Жыл бұрын
I just did this today and it was awful.. not because it was genuinely hard but it's tedious and I actually had to remove the battery and pull the start back to get clearance for the housing so I can pull the thermostat that threw up coolant all over the transmission
@tomroberts91522 жыл бұрын
You mentioned removing the starter incase the housing and inlet tube need replacement. Can the tube be removed from the housing while housing is fastened in place, and then remove the housing? My housing may be leaking is why I ask. Also, is there a seal or gasket for the housing?
@hpw-ws6bj10 ай бұрын
Just to share some tech data. The 1mz-fe radiator fan should kick on at 195.8deg F for a few seconds. And turns off when temp drop back down to 194. If lower radiator hose is cold or just warm thermostat most likely stuck closed. Temp switches may not activate to turn rad fan on because they're on radiator and/or thermostat housing and radiator coolant will stay relatively low while engine coolant is overheated due to no coolant circulation from a stuck closed thermostat.

Do you have to draint the coolant
@stevensautomotiveexperience4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, I would strongly recommend it, unless you want a large amount of coolant gushing out of the thermostat housing and accumulating on top of your transmission. Just open up your radiator petcock valve and let it drain. Thanks for watching!
