Man, thank you for these videos. You gave me a lot of confidence to work on my own outboard motors. I was born and raised in sacramento california. And there's a lot of boats. But if you don't do your own work... It's too damn expensive. Thank you bro

Nice video. Just bought my first boat last weekend. Been watching a lot of videos. This is what I'm going to do next on my motor. Keep it up. Thanks.

Is it normal for a small amount of water to come out of the plug where u connect the shifting rod together?

Does the water pipe come out the rubber boot at the other end?

Thanks man. So I got it all together and working great. But was out on the water and the pin snapped. Is it possible to reattach the shifter with a new pin while in the water?
@edspamjunk30235 жыл бұрын
The rod just goes up and down. Just use a little cotter pin like the shear pin on the prop.

Always use antisiezs on any bolts on anything aluminum or they might not come out next time.

Very good video. I replaced the water pump just like you did. Your video helped me a LOT. Now I have a problem. I can't seem to get the lower unit lined up right into the leg. Something is stopping it from lining up. What can I do?

I bet your gearshift linkage rod has pulled up a bit inside the oil reservoir. It has to be aligned just right to seat properly. Took me nonstop 4 hours to figure this out on mine lol.

Gently pull you starter cord. It should slot in

Do you know if a 1994 tohatsu 30hp 2 stroke is self priming water pump cause I changed the water pump an put ear muffs on an it won't pee but I heard if it isn't a self priming pump you need to put it in the water
@brianlichty6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid. How did you get the pin back in? And getting mine out was incredibly hard!

I have a 92 nissan 50hp. Do you happen to know what kind of hose is suppose to be for the water pump output? Looks like someone used a gas hose on mine? Im talking from the motor shooting out the back. Thanks

You left out the hardest part, aligning the drive shaft and shift rod. 🤣🤣🤣

Will this work the same for a nissan marine 4 stroke 15hp 2005 model
@wiredconcepts3 жыл бұрын
It should be very similar if not exactly the same.

I just drilled the pin out with the same size drill bit. Replaced it with a small piece of copper 12-2 ground wire. Driving that pin out wasn't happening.

i have a 9.8 Nissan, how do you remove one of the two pins on the shifting rod, without potentially bending the rod, if you use a hammer to knock out one of the pins
@DannySHodges8 жыл бұрын
I done it with a hammer and a small nail. it should come right out
@MrSplinter517 жыл бұрын
Danny S Hodges Thanks Danny. I needed to know if I could drive those pins out or needed a tiny allen key. Interesting, your accent is easily understood by many of us Australians. Some 'mericans, you jest can't unnerstan' a tall!
@edspamjunk30235 жыл бұрын
I had a pair of vise grip pliers that locked around the brass part, and held it from going back any further. Say from right side. Reach in with vice grips as far as you can and clamp brass part that pins go through, then knock out pin from the right side, and the rod can't move while you do it. I knocked it out with a small but long allen wrench.
