Much to my shame, if my washing machine lasts more than 2 years, I usually let the scrap men have it and buy another cheap one. Not today, the machine wouldn't spin, so I followed your advice, no blockage in the filter, I then moved it to take the back off and there was the belt on the floor but intact ! 20 minutes later, it's spinning. You saved me £200-£300. Thank you.

When my washing machine started smoking (burnt rubber smell) I was ready to scrap it and buy a new one. I never even considered how simple it might have been to fix it. However, watching this video showed me how incredibly easy it is to fix. Taking my washing machine apart to fit the new belt proved very educational too as now I’ve realised just how simple washing machines are on the inside and I feel confident that any future faults can be very easily repaired. Thanks for the video!

I have replaced the brushes on my old AEG lavamat 610, and also the belt which was fraying. Belt tension is adjusted by moving the motor. How do I set the correct tension, & Is it necessary to reset it when the belt has settled in and stretched?

My old belt ravelled itself around the large wheel on the back of the drum. I need to remove this wheel but there is an incredibly stubborn bolt on the back which is stripped. Nothing works. Any tips? The drum won't turn because of the belt remnants wedged really close to the center of the wheel

ONE option, as to why the belt keeps fallng off place, is the belt losing it's grip, due to material deterioration over years. Happened to my washing machine. It was just a case of old belt. Cost of the belt = 12€. (assuming checks for loosen bolts or bearings are fine)

When the drum is turned the belt jumps back off for us. The belt does fit on using your knack. The wheel on the drum doesn't have any way to grip the belt.

Push harder on the wheel so the belt spins onto it. If the belt doesn't snap, you're not using enough force.
