I want to thank you for this video. Before I watched the video, I had no idea where the alternator was but after arguing with my husband by phone, I hung up on him and decided to do it myself. Thanks to your video, I did but it took me 1.5 hours rather than 15 mins. That was because of trying to get new one to drop in place and get bolts lined up
@EducatedGreaseMonkey7 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. Lining up those bolts can be a pain if youve never done them before. Good Job!

Thank you so much for posting this video! My alternator died today, but thankfully I made it home. I searched and found your video. The hardest part was getting the new one to go in the slot to line up the holes for the screws. Other than that...it was so easy. Thank you for saving me the ridiculous labor the auto shop would've charged me. Not that its a big deal, but I'm a woman too like the comment below. Your video made me believe I could do it and I did! Super proud right now :)

Hey Carlos, saw your video on replacing the Alternator for Chevy Tahoe. I just replaced mine for a 2008. Your explanation was VERY easy to understand and your walk thru the main steps to replace. I was able to get everything removed (the removal of the old one took some time with a heavy crowbar type wedged underneath) in about 8 minutes. Then about 10 minutes getting the new one wedged down into the slot where the bolts lined up. I did want to add a couple things that may help your viewers. People may need to remove or make sure they know the top plastic cover piece has two clips in the back towards the firewall but easily slides out. Next once they get everything all aligned back up, bolts in to hold the new Alternator, is the tensionioner for the belt. I took that step as you had to remove that bolt and pulley so it would loosen and move to the right towards the alternator to loosen the belt. AND then to put it back on, slip the belt around everything but the idler, move shift the tensioner to the right and easily slide the belt under. Took me like 30 seconds and then putting everything back was like 5 minutes. Re-checked the belt routing and pulleys, screws etc, before cranking the truck up. Aside from these very minor things EXCELLENT video and yes, I believe it could be done in under 25-30 minutes for the novice mechanic. Thanks for the HELP! Michael

Sweet. Thanks, man. Replacing the alternator didn’t feel me out, but all the other videos I watched didn’t show the actual tensioner, so I wasn’t sure where to go for it. This video was clear, showed you actually doing the work, and was to the point. Well done. Thanks.

Very helpful thank you. While replacing alternator ('08 Escalade ESV) also replaced the belts and belt tensioner on both serpentine and AC. Took me a bit to figure out the bolts were loose on the alternator, but needed to be pulled out the rest of the way (kept turning). Had to pry fairly hard to get old one out and pound the new one in which was clearly demonstrated in the video. You can do it too.

Thank you for your help, I believe I need to replace my alternator, I know I have to replace the battery. Im hoping once I get a new battery the alternator will be ok and hopefully not using the charge from the battery to stay alive. Thank you again.

Hey EGM ! Awesome channel and straight to the point man. 👍🏼 I was wondering if you could help me with an electrical issue? I have an 07 Tahoe as well and my “service charging system” keeps coming up intermittently but then returns to normal. I’ve experienced complete power loss and “service Stabilitrak”, headlights pulsing , and then everything goes back to normal. Battery/Alternator test fine and I’ve read in quite a few forums and on different channels that the factory ground cable is defective or just plain garbage and that it becomes corroded and deteriorates inside the insulation and after time causes grounding issues (🤔obviously)😐 Before I tear it apart and unnecessarily start replacing everything, do you have any info on this type of issue that may save me some time and money? Apologize for the novel and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike G

What if the Tahoe still gives a high voltage reading but discharges over night? I read it could be the ECM...it did give a service charging system display but hasn't showed it anymore...what could it be? Alternator on it's last legs?

The negative cable took a little bit of playing around to work. However once its on no issues. That is probably why they tell you it doesn't fit.

Have you come across the issue where you loose power completely to the whole truck while driving? Supposedly it the ground wires that are bad that came from the manufacturer?
@mikeg.43814 жыл бұрын
@Jose Miranda I have an 07 Tahoe as well and have experienced the same issue. I have read up on the topic and came up with the same info about the factory ground wire being defective and becoming corroded and deteriorating inside the insulation.
