You are correct, they are the same part numbering system as ford. First part is model, 2nd part is what it is, eg. Throttle body, last two letters are the engineering release with the last letter being the design level....so BB is an update of BA. BC is an update of BB etc.

Hi Mark, was the cost of the throttlebody from Jaguar, eye watering or was it reasonable. Another question, i need to replace the cabin air filter on my S Type R, i persume you have to remove the plastic scuttle panel to get access to that filter housing.

To be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Circa £300. Yes the scuttle needs to be removed for cabin filter access but isn't too bad of a job so long as the wipers come off ok

Follow up question - I have the 2008 Duratec 3.0 non VVT. I have re-welded to fit electronic tb. I notice there are two coolant nips on the intake but behind the throttlebody but before idle valve. Is this for same reason? To warm the idle valve/throttlebody? It came from a scrapyard so I dont know what its supposed to look like.

I think it is to warm the throttle butterfly and stop it from freezing under certain conditions

Did it fix it

Hi, yes it did. Thanks for watching

Ok I' was asking because mine is doing that now it just happened 7 days ago I was driving and lost compression then it said engine failure and my traction light came on and brake light and all kinda weird lights so what you said was what my s type did so thanks. Was it hard to repairs???
@MarksWheelsАй бұрын
@@youngpimpbthepimp9920 no it's pretty straight forward. Four bolts for the throttle body and a couple of plugs. Be careful as the plugs tend to be a bit brittle due to their age.

Why are they routing cooling trough the throttle body?
@johnbeckett262411 ай бұрын
I believe it's done to warm the throttle body rather than cool it.
@MarksWheels11 ай бұрын
I agree with @johnbeckett2624 it is to warm the throttle and help prevent the butterfly freezing. It seems to be a common thing on modern cars although I've never had an issue with the older cars that don't have it.

I remember many years ago in the 1950- 1960's carburettors would ice up in very cold conditions and the engine would stop, so to fix that people would move the air intake near the exhaust so it could draw in warm air and prevent the freezing, later manufactures added a warm flap usually controlled by vacuum.@@MarksWheels
