My check engine light on my 98 F-150 would not come on and I needed to either replace it or find out why it wouldn't come on when I took it to emissions. Every time I took it to the ford dealer it would work until I got home and then it wouldn't come on. The dealer said go to the junk yard and get a cluster it must be a problem with it. Well, you certainly walked me through on how to replace the cluster and after tinkering with the bulb after I got my cluster in position to check the bulb it is now working fine. Thanks for your valuable time and effort in helping me with this information. My speedometer sometimes work, and other times it just pegs out at the 90mph mark. In addition, my odometer doesn't work and my cold / hot gauge stays at the H mark, but the truck doesn't overheat. It's time for a replacement. Thanks again.

Just a tad different than my '84 f150 I used to have! Needed to replace some dash bulbs on my '98 fq50 and couldn't figure out the shift indicator. On the '84 it's just a snap panel, 4 screws, a speedo cable, 2 connector, unscrew and unhook the indicator cable from the column.

LED BULBS ARE POLARITY SENSITIVE. THEY ARE NOT MARKED POS. OR NEG. IF THEY DONT WORK, PULL OUT ROTATE 180 DEG. RE-INSERT

Did you replace you miles or did you just take what was on the new cluster I have low miles unless I could find one that's close I'm screwed my gauges are not working .

I replaced the 5 big bulbs and on the speedometer 50-70 is not working. Why? Do I need to replace any small ones?

Well i can't find our manual book to the 98 f150 to see the horn relay or fuse to the horn. I seen on the dash fuse box its missing the relays of 3 4 5 i already know relay 3 is a empty relay outlet so what does relay 4 and 5 go to

Hi,,,, I have a 1997 150 that his been sitting idle for a few years. I have rumination on the cluster but no Speedometer, Tach, Water Temp. or Volt reading. Is It the Whole cluster or something else???? Any feed back would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you did not need to replace the whole thing, if odometer and trip are not working that's because you need to change the little gears in their mechanism

I have a 98 lariat F150 4.6. cluster died, I thought it was just the fuse but when I replaced it, smoke came out of it. my question is, if I go get a good one from the junkyard does it has to be reprogrammed by the dealer?

Some do, and others don't. It's really hard to say for sure. I'd bet with the 98 you'll be fine.

Dont know if I'll get an answer right away. But my cluster gauges all went out on me after getting home from filling up. Tilted my steering wheel and my rpm needle dropped and my fuel gauge oil pressure etc all dropped. Fuses dont look blown. Am I better off getting a new cluster? Also I did replace my lights to blue led so I dont know if that would have caused anything.

ajusting the wheel somtimes pulled on the wires on the digital odometer. It worked speratically at best. I guess its common, in ford odometers from the wires always being pulled on

I need to swap out my 2003 f150 lariat cluster with one I found on eBay. If I do this will I be able to start my truck? I heard the PATS will not let it happen because it it isn't the one from the factory? Yours seam to work with out any issues. Also, will the mileage reflect my current mileage or that of the new new/used one from eBay? It has similar miles. My tach had an issue which is the reason for swapping it out.

My truck was much older than yours. I doubt it'll work without the dealer reprogramming PATS and the mileage.

Yes you will not be able to make it run without having the pats reprogrammed, tow it to a dealer and have them do it, should cost like 100$

WARNING - great video but prying the headlight switch out with a screwdriver, broke mine up pretty good and it is a mint 1997 with 52k original miles. There is a button on the left side but back in the dash. When you push it in, it’s slides these pins over on a spring type slider and when you let go of the button they slide back. So you can’t pry it out without sliding them over. You’ll see what I mean. Haven’t figured out how you would have gotten in there to push it though so you don’t break it. But if you can figure that out it’s a smooth pop out situation.

Dude almost broke my light switch, don't use a screwdriver to pop out light switch! There is a black spring loaded lever... pull the lever then remove the light switch
