Why not unbolt the rear carrier first and grease the threads when refitting, better for the future and easier to replace wishbone?

did this not long ago on a mazda.i did both sides. the bolt was sized inside the bushing.so bad i had to cut the bolt out with a participating saw. one bolt snapped on torque up to spec so i had to replace all bolts too as the rest became loose over time even tho they were at correct torque . i used blue locktite on the new ones and all is good now. one thing to note thought you torque bolts up WITH load on the front wheels otherwise your bushings can tear and squeak

Thank you so much for this video guys! Haynes want you to take the hub off with associated nightmares :-. . One very stuck balljoint bolt but got it off with a ton of pb blaster and heat - and on the other side, a co-operative bolt but needed a fork type balljoint splitter to separate the wishbone from the hub. Never underestimate the leverage of a 6ft pipe on the end of a spanner. All in all though a productive weekend that I wouldn't have attempted without the vid. cheers!!

Nice work buddy. No nonsense mechanics, I get times like that when I just need to get the job done. I'm not a mechanic by trade but do a fair bit of work on cars. To make my life easier I take the bushing off only a couple of bolts compared to the 6 ;-)

Hi, I have a 2001 Freelander and your videos has helped me a lot. I just tried to replace my wishbones yesterday and on one side I just could not remove the wishbone from the carrier. The one you managed to get free by hitting with hammer. Ended up just ordering a new one from eBay. Only thing that gets me with your videos is you call both nuts and bolts, bolts. Maybe you do this on purpose like calling a Landrover a Jeep. Keep up the great videos.

Leon where do u take your cars for tracking because I took mine to kwik fit and they put it on different ramp so I asked why they did that and they told me it's a 4 wheel tracking machine that need to be done on a 4 poster ramp is that true but I know 1 thing is it was not cheap but as long as my tyres dont wear like that again its money well spent they reset the amber and caster witch were both 5 port side knots out

at 6:33 that bushing you lubed up that you had to pound the rod out of. What is the bracket that holds that bushing up called? Im trying to find it online but cant

you forgot the large washer on the rear bushing, great explanation though. to all the doubters, he is 100% correct in that practically all garages do the short version of fitting stuff. if there quick way with a little persuasion then that the way it's done. time and money folks.

Good job Leon. Regards tracking on the Freelander its even more important as not only will it destroy the tyres but over time the IRD , VCU and rear diff could be affected as is the case with many 4 wheel drive vehicles. SORRRTED!!

You should never tighten a non roller type bush perpendicular to suspension travel(as in that front bush)until the car is sitting on its wheels and at correct ride height,as you have all ready pre set the bush at a different angle,leaving it then torsionally loaded in its working position.

Hi I got a bit confused at the end - are you saying replace wishbones as a pair?
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 жыл бұрын
Yes mate always best to replace both sides in fact it's always best to replace all four corners for example if one wheel bearing goes all the others are just the same age and just about to go but I realise it all comes down to money but if you want to do the job properly you have to replace both sides all four corners just replaced everything

@@julianbingham3999 yes mate it's easy enough just make sure you check it up properly and have axle stands make sure the car is level the usual safety stuff also you'll definitely have to get the car track after you do anything with the suspension

Jeep🤢You do it on purpose now Im sure 😂. Anyway that Bush ive has to replace after I crashed mine into a curb at 40mph (drifted at the wheel). All the metal came clean off! I did this job myself. Is it worth doing the other side too or not? I rounded one of those long bolts on the otherside whats the solution? Also this happened before the accident everytime I pull off I get a loud click and can feel it on my pedals. Its like something has play in it? Its not CV joints they’ve been replaced could it be a wish bone? Also since the accident my steering is on the piss. Tracking ok,Track Rod ends replaced could it just be that with the impact the steering wheel physically is out of line?Thanks matey great vids
