Just wanted to say thanks for posting this crazy ordeal... just watched another video from 2021 where a pc tech in the Philippines did this using a soldering iron (like you suggested at least once). Wondering if you (or others) ended up upgrading the WiFi module... other than replacing the HDD with a Solid State Drive, that is the only upgrade that can make any improvement in speed on this 10 year old laptop.

Thanks for watching Mark! I no longer have this laptop but upgrading the hdd to speed things up makes sense.

Cheers Erik - nice job on the tutorials! Excellent video and audio, clear explanations. I've just started replacing one of these keyboards myself so I wanted to make just a couple of comments that might be helpful: In your second video of the series, you don't have to remove the touch panel bits. Yes, it looks like the keyboard goes under the touchpad hardware but it really doesn't. There ONLY part of disassembling this awful machine that wasn't terribly. Also, when you've unscrewed the screen hinges if you just flip the laptop and open the screen it will come right off - reduces the chance of damaging same and gets it out of the way, and you don't have to pry those right hinges I found through trial and error the easiest way to remove all the plastic beads is with an Exacto knife with a chisel blade - put it on the plastic nub like you would a wood chisel and give it a light tap with something - a small hammer out pliers work well - and in a few seconds your room will be full of little things black nubs. Finally (at least for now - I've just finished part 2 and wanted to comment before I forget everything) - actually removing the old keyboard is much easier than it seems. Pry up one is with a medium screwdriver, don't sorry about bending the keyboard. As soon as you get there edge up enough to get a grip on it just yank it away from the base. All the plastic nubs will break off clearly with almost no effort. Thanks again for a great demo!

Is the Ram upgradable, I saw somewhere a guy mentioned that there is a slot in the back side of the motherboard for the ram but didn't quite see a clear and full shot for the motherboard after you roll it over.

Hello, thanks for watching. I don't believe the Ram can be upgraded on this device as it's soldered in place. You can try googling it too, but I'll think you'll come up with the same answer.
