I changed mine last year for the first time since truck was new in 2004 and removing one of those top BJ with breaker bar and 3 foot piece of 2" schedule 40 galvanized pipe to turn the clamp and when it popped loose I stumbled backwards and landed on my back flat out. 😂😂 So much fun.

Did these on my 04 HO 6-Speed about 5 years ago. Not sure about now, but at the time Carli said disassembling the upper voided the warranty. Not that they'd even know. I had to do the same as you and disassemble it to get it in. My cap for the upper came loose when torquing to spec. I retorqued to 30, seemed to do the trick.

Now Carli wants you to disassemble the top one before installing because some was damaging during install.

Just a FYI Advanced ,AZ and O'reilly rents these BJ presses. Older trucks may want a small butane torch handy just incase you need so heat the knuckle to help unseize the bj.

My set works great on factory balljoints for the heavy duty trucks. Carli joints are taller so my press was just a little shy.

Great video. Much thanks brother. Would this process work for a 2020 and 2022? Also, is there a way or other specific parts to get to avoid the grinding process? And one more thing if it’s not to much to ask; could you share the specifics tools needed to do this type of work. Like the socket set, the adapters and the puller or what ever is called. Thanks brother. To avoid grinding you can get a different set of ball joints and avoid using the Carli joints I installed. Your truck should be the same as mine unless they changed the design and I've not heard of a change yet. Torque specs could be different so you might want to look into that. The ball joint press I use is in the description. Hope this helps.

I have these ball joints and I’ll be damned if I can get them to take grease! Only 20k miles on them. Uppers and lowers won’t take any, I even have zerk covers on so nothing gets in the fitting.

Are you raising the truck off the ground and letting it rest on the axles?

Yeah, I tried it with it on the ground and then jacked up the front end. It was the same no matter what.

Take zerk fittings out and make sure they aren't clogged. The balls in the zerk fittings could be stuck. New fittings are cheap so you might be better off replacing them.

I have zero caps on them, but I’ll take them out and see if that’s the issue.

Sometimes grease will harden at its entry point. Caps don't always help with that.

Me and my son tried all day. Used breaker bar with cheater bar, power tools, could get them to budge at all .

You will have to use heat.

@@isolateddieselperformance3261 had to hire a mechanic to come over with a sledge hammer . he was a bigger guy than i am, so he was able to put some weight behind that hammer. it was a little scary. new ones went in easy.

There should be NO grinding involved when replacing ball joints in a 4wd Dodge front differential and there are good ball joint tools just for this job. I have a kit from Torque King and they also have a good ball joint replacement video on their KZbin channel.

I have a great ball joint kit too and it works great with any balljoint i install except carli balljoints. If you install carli balljoints on a 4wd dodge 2500/3500 you will be grinding the knuckle down for clearance in some cases. Carli said i will probably have to grind the knuckle if the casting was to thick. Any other brand of balljoints you won't have to grind the knuckle.

Bore wasn't big enough to start ordering over size ball joints yet. I could have went without raising the material but I wanted to just to get a tighter fit anyway. If these wear out the next set will be a special order

All i know is that emf blue prints everything they make and you never have to press another ball joint. It’s another option that is all. Especially if. You dont want to spend as much as that

Again another guy makes it look so easy. It's not that easy!!! Dodge sucks on this behalf of ball joints. Top knuckle is at a angle and getting a c tool to press causes a tweak ball joint. Dodge designed this for bottom end press. They designed it for you to go to dealer. I have done this alot of times and always have issues. Until I seen the Matco ball joint press. Game changer!!!!

Dodge didn't design the axle. American axle makes it for dodge. I've never really had to many problems changing balljoints unless rust was a factor which in NC its usually not a problem.
