Although that seemed to work just fine, a bit of advice for others... in my experience (1 1/2 ball joints replaced) start with upper out, lower out, then lower in, upper in. Going in this order lets you use the tool the way *i think* it was intended, putting the pressure screw through the top hole to work on the lowers.

Quick tip, be aware of the alamite (grease fitting) position before removing and, if necessary, position it for easier access upon reinstalling. Whether it's yours or a customer's, you'll be making someone's job a bit easier. Never a bad thing. Blessings to All 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

According to manuals, what you call cups are actually adapters, and what you call adapters are cups. Basically a cup looks like a cup - a cylinder with a closed bottom.The smaller flat thingie is an "install cup adapter" (you can stack it with the install cup)
@ehpunka4 жыл бұрын
I was hoping to also see which combo of pieces you used to do the top ball joint. Is that possible?
@VideoShowMeHow4 жыл бұрын
To do the top you need the catcher on the top, then use your spacers with the hole in the middle for the bottom. Once spaced out ok on the bottom use the ribbed one to attach to the press. 👌

Wow thank you so much I haven't even watched it yet I'm going to follow up with this because I have to go and I really want to pay attention. Weird part is I've never used a press tool and I've done all kinds of brake jobs and control arm jobs. Don't even ask me why it's intimidating but I'm going to watch this because you seem like you're ready to really walk us through it and there's too many videos to waste time on so thank you. I have my lower ball joints along with struts control arms Etc but honestly since mine is mounted in the knuckle I might reuse them if they aren't that bad. I can't imagine they're good with a completely torn control arm bushing allowing everything to slam around but we will see. Right now someone is like why the hell would you leave them in there if you have the ball joints to replace? Well time is one thing energy is another and my back is absolutely trash when it comes to jobs like this I might be in pain for a week after this. Another is if it doesn't look like I need them I'm just not the kind of person to replace something like this if I don't need it. Honestly though for the record I'm a really disgusted with the engineering these companies choose that is obviously intended to make things hard for us so that the industry can be held up. People think this is a silly statement but if you were a trillionaire and your success relied on a network of dealerships and shops and those dealerships and shops start going out of business because everybody can fix their own vehicles trust me it's not logical for them to make things easy on us that's why you literally go insane when you go to fix something and you get the tool you need and you get down there and there's something in the way that had two to three inches on every side and could have been somewhere else but they chose to put it right in the way of your socket. oh I love the pulley tensioner scam. Two square feet and they want to put something right in the way of your tensioner so you can't even do a belt job without a couple hours of preparation

Exactly! The amount of force, even using lots of PB blaster on the rust, can be enormous. Some say to use an impact gun, some say don't. I've had to use an impact intermittently after soaking the area in ATF and acetone. Rinse and repeat. Sometimes it's easy and often it's not. Rust sucks!
