Thank you, this was VERY helpful! The instructions on the Dell website for how to change a battery only told me how to open the case and take it out, nothing about the cable or how to put a new one in. Your guidance helped me do something completely new.

I have a 13 inch Dell 5 years old... The battery was getting sad and would quit after 20 minutes off the charger. I watched a youtube about changing the battery and decided to do the same. Dell do not sell spares but they gave me the part number and I Googled the part number and paid $80 AUD plus $6 fast delivery for a new battery. When it came I bought a $13 screwdriver set from Bunnings so I could open the special screws. The battery replacement could not be simpler. So easy. I also used my vacuum cleaner on low suction over the fan and the computer in general to remove the 5 years of dust. I put it back together very easily (no spare parts left over) and the machine is like brand new! The fan does not come on anymore whereas it used to be quite noisy before I vacuumed the dust out. I saved about $2500 and stopped dumping the unit in a recycle place. I am sure it will do me another 5 years and who knows??? Definitely worth the 20 minutes it takes to save your machine... :)

I was looking for my screw and I was about to close the laptop until you said, check to make sure you didn’t leave any screws in there. I turn my laptop upside down and a screw fell out, thank you! You saved me a future of headache.

Are you actually removing the screws or just loosening them? I can't seem to actually pull mine out. (Dell Latitude e5570)

Some laptop cases have holders that keep screws from falling out. In that case, unscrew until it's fully loose but the screw stays in the case
