Actually you don't have to take the shroud off or remove the fan. Remove the air filter housing, move the PS reservoir to the side if you need a bit more room. You can remove the idle pulley now. The long bolt will extend to the fan blades (turn the fan to allow it), so at a certain point you'll have to trade in the ratchet wrench for a box wrench. Much easier.

thank you so so so much for the vid , my fan belt snapped and i managed to get the car home 320i , the heat gauge was on the red though with a little steam coming out of the engine , so i was hoping i could ask you if there are any checks i should do now before i put the new belts on and thanks so much ma bro !!

thanks for the tips did it a bit different with out taking the fans off . just pulled the air cleaner and went thur the side . was not that bad .

i guess the rest of the pulleys will hold it tight enough? when i bought my car it didnt have it and i been driving it for over a year already so im trying to figure if the previous owner or owners removed it for some other reason other then the bearings on it making noise. also the belt is the right size not shorter in case someone1 thinks that being a reason'?
