This information is 100% correct. I watched it yesterday, bought the replacement handle, banged it in as described. It is in solid! Got back to work in the garden, tuckered out, and grinning ear to ear that it worked.

Great video. A tip to anyone struggling to set the rake head in place (if it keeps falling off on the initial strike): I used a thin file (knife will do also) and took away a bit from two sides (North-South or East-West) of the hole, keeping it oval shaped. You don't want to make it deeper than the initial fitting so that the rake head itself expands the wood to just the right size 👍

The staple at the end of the handle is there so that the store can hang it on their display, alongside the other types of replacement handles. I broke my handle on my 40 year old rake trying to pull a water soaked log out of the creek behind my house. It broke about half way down inside the ferrule, which happened to be a piece of chrome plated steel. I contemplated just buying a new rake, but the quality of my original makes the new ones look like a piece of junk.

Thats is the best way to replace the rake handle i found the staple at the end is so the end of the handle doesn't sparl and all i did was sank it in place when you install the head with the dead blows on the ground as shown in your video . Thank you for this awesome simple video. Your awesome.

If you have lost the sleeve and are left with a split wood end, wrap the split end with some good tape and tighten the rake to the handle with a few metal hose clamps. Worked for me.

Hi, mine rotted out because I left it in the rain. I couldn't figure out if the new one had a hole or a split. Obviously the tang is not round so a round hole seemed odd. But you're video showed me the hole is round. So I just cut off the rot and will drill a new hole, taper the end to fit the collar and force it on like u did. I'm an old school carpenter too, so I m well aware of the method of tightening up tool handles 😃. Thanks ma friend.
