Thank you for video. It was very helpful. I did my own Envoy brakes last week...I had to get the front rotors turned as clips on the pads had gotten into the rotors. However, on the rear, it was piece of cake.

Two things u forgot, ones kinda important. The important one is you should always remove the cap on your master cylinder before prying your calipers back. And second is you should only remove the bottom caliper screw all the way and only loosen the top one, that way you can just flip up the caliper to remove the pads- this way caliper is secured and not hanging by the brake line. Learned this from master tech ( Mercedes-Benz)
@awesomeskatevids
@awesomeskatevids Жыл бұрын
But if you only unbolt the one, the caliper never comes all the way off, the bracket cant be removed fully as easily, and the rotor, and more wouldve been in the way while he was swinging the sledge? i think youre speaking more for a brake pad job, not a whole rotor replacement or even a caliper replacement.

One thing that I would like to add: The front brake pads and rotors for an extended wheelbase vehicle are NOT the same as those for a standard wheelbase vehicle! Make sure you get the right parts for the wheelbase you have!

I purchased new slide pins for the caliper brackets up front. The new pins aren't both solid,one has the rubber bushing on the tip,and the other is solid! What i'm trying to figure out is,does the pin with the bushing on the tip go on the front/lower or rear/upper hole in the bracket?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 7 жыл бұрын
+im2tall1 Thank you for checking us out. We are unsure of why both pins aren't the same as it should be identifiable to the exact position. Please feel free to contact us if you need anything further. 1aauto.com 1-888-844-3393

I found it the solid pin goes in the leading edge,and the bushed pin goes in the trailing! I found some info on the SS forum,believe it or not a Prius chat,and last but not least a Honda forum.Some calipers are forward mounted like the Trailblazer,and some are mounted towards the rear of the caliper like a Corvette,or Honda,but the same rule applies to all vehicles apparently,the solid pin goes toward the front(Leading),and the bushed pin goes toward rear(Trailing). This info appears to be very scarce and few and far between!

Usually you do not need to bleed the brakes when performing a brake job unless the brakes are soft or do not feel right once the brakes have been changed. 1aauto.com

My caliper bolts 🔩 on the exact car were smaller than a 17mm, I'm guessing a 15mm, but an 18mm on the inside (?)
