The bucket is ingenious. I normally use old stainless steel brake lines fashioned into S hooks for hanging calipers to prevent stressing brake hoses. Stainless is hard to bend but will hold a very heavy Ford 1 ton caliper with no issues. So glad I watched this, always seeing neat tricks others use. Thank you.

You’re welcome! Good thing you didn’t pull the brakes right out and snapped the sensor cable 😄

1:13 i've read that you have to (first clean if needed) put some fat (silicon grease) around that stick when you put it in back. whats your opinion? and thank you very much for your great videos.
@AlbanianFix2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there’s no wrong or right in how much grease there is as long as there is some. I’ve found myself cleaning excess grease off the caliper’s track because any extra grease will be pushed out. Also, not to mention the dirt and gunk that the extra grease starts to attract.

Great video. That bolt torque spec only 18 FP I believe ..
@AlbanianFix4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I believe so but I just tightened it as much as I could since it’s just bolting metal to metal :)

Yes...85 seems too much for that small bolt
@scotth51323 жыл бұрын
Yes. 85 ft-lb is for the caliper bracket bolts.

great vid. Going to do it myself now. Is grease neccessary?
@AlbanianFix4 жыл бұрын
In my opinion it’s very necessary so the pads can slide back and forth with ease. Most of the brake kits already come with some grease included.

85 ft/lb may be for the caliper bracket but that seems a bit much

Yeah, it seemed a lot to me as well but that’s what I found on google at that time.

2:22 you may easily damage the piston while pushing it crooked
@AlbanianFix2 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right, it’s not good to push them in crooked. This video part was sped up and doesn’t show how I was really taking my time with slowly pushing the piston in to prevent as less damage as possible since I didn’t have the right tool.

man the guidepins should not be at 85Ft /lbs. according to mercedes it should be 40.. snapped my bolt..
@AlbanianFix3 жыл бұрын
Hey Judas, I went off the Mercedes forum for the torque of the bolts and my bolts were fine with 85ft/lb. but then again it’s just a forum and they’re probably not the correct measurements. Here’s the link: www.benzworld.org/threads/2009-e350-sport-brake-caliper-torque-values.2915625/ It’s the 3rd thread down where it points out the caliper mounting bracket to be fastened at 115nm which is roughly 85ft/lb when converted.

Those two 13mm bolts you took off of the front calipers.. Are those torque to spec? I thought these needed to be replaced with new when you loosen them as they stretch? Thanks for the torque specs on these by the way!
@AlbanianFix11 ай бұрын
Well, I mean... you can... if you'd like to. I never replaced and always tighten them by feel at least for myself and couple of friends that I've done and, so far, everything's been good.
