As long as it fits in there and tell the printer software your printing on a 4 x 6 label.

Yes. I thought no amount of force would do it. Wore heavy gloves and then just a bit of hard wiggling did it.

Can I use different brand label roll with this printer? Or did they make using the brand's label itself mandatory?

It doesn't matter what brand of paper, as long as it's compatible with the machine. Could use this similar sized paper: geni.us/3ya8n

Mine was glued as well. It's new. I guess Brother realized people could take them apart and reuse them. I tried everything to snap mine open without breaking it. TIP: saw it in half. Saw it cleanly, then pop the pieces back into your new roll. The two pieces will hold the way it is do to the hard cardboard. Works great!! Hope that helps.

good trick mine was glued but I broke it apart and it is still useable
