One Midas told me that the Fiesta [and most new cars] didn't have a cabin filter. Another one a few cities over said "if I had one, it would be roughly here". Really? How is this not a commonly known thing? If your air vents smell musty, especially with the A/C on, pretty sure it's a dirty filter. No doubts.

@@GrizDrummer25 we have entered into an era of automotive history where certain vehicles have no cabin air filter. My truck doesn't have one. Our work truck fleet (2010 Fords) have no filters. IIRC, the cabin filters are removed when they got first service done and are not replaced. I just bought a used 2011 Fiesta. I'm going to remove the filter and not replace it.

Good luck even finding a filter, or any parts for the Fiesta. I did find an STP cabin filter that is supposed to fit, but the sides of the filter are too wide to fit inside the slots when installing it. I had to get scissors and trim the sides to get it to slide in, while crushing the filter. I have to give a lot of credit to engineers who can make easy jobs as hard as possible.

Video helped me out for my 2014 Fiesta and was pretty much the exact same. It's recommended that you have a Torx T20 wrench, but honestly it's REQUIRED! I didn't have one and used vice grips and a T20 bit. It got the job done but would have been MUCH easier with the wrench because it took forever just for two screws. Just did this in our shop, I'll tell you, theres a rubber hose that goes into the airbox, if you pop it off you can remove the lower vent and pop 2 snaps out under the dash to remove another small panel, you still need to pinch the filter somewhat, but it makes removing and installing the new filter and screws 1000x easier.

Just replaced mine yesterday. I mainly watched the video for the location of the filter. I have to say, what a pain in the a$$ this small task was. I could not get to it with my glove box in the way, so had to snap that out and set it aside. Tha small cover over the filter had two philips head screws, and three hex type screws. The two upper were near impossible to reach. (They did not get replaced when I finished the reassembly!) I demolished the old filter getting it out. Extremely tight quarters, ridiculous! Having to basically crush the new filter to get it in place is crazy. Needless to say, I will not be replacing this again. Thank you for your video!

I've seen another tutorial where they took out that double barrel vent thing to make more room, I think that would make it a little easier to access the screws and fit in the filter with less crushing (maybe). The only problem with that is getting the barrel thing re attached afterwards, they said they had to pop the glovebox out a bit to see where it connects. I managed to semi-accidentally pull the whole glovebox out and sort of disconnect the double barrel thing, but can't figure out how to reconnect it...

Spent some time troubleshooting why the vents on my fiesta aren't actuating when the AC is turned on. Can hear it raw when its turned full but the airflow is weak and seems to be congested somewhere. Do you think a dirty cabin filter might be the cause?
@filterheads5 жыл бұрын
You should replace your cabin air filter once a year or every 15,000 miles. A dirty cabin air filter filter could be filled with debris like leaves, pollen, and dust. If you live in an area with a lot of smog or around a lot of trees you might want to consider replacing it more often because you'll have more debris that may clog up the filter. Stale odors can also be caused by a dirty cabin air filters.
