The engine mount bolts are stretch bolts and can only be used once. They need to be replaced each time they are removed.

I bought the part from 1 auto. Part had to be adjusted for the cam gear to go in. It was very frustrating. But I got it to work.

I watched this video hoping to find an easier way of doing it, instead I found the long and hard way. No need to drain coolant, remove reservoir, remove engine mount unless you’re the hulk and your arms are too big to squeeze down there. Pull timing cover, loosen t-belt tensioner and slide belt off of sprocket. Pull cam sprocket and swap sensor, reinstall. Check timing marks. Done.

Is this the same for 1.8L turbo beetles too? Cant wait to do thks area of the car a 3rd time. Timing was done. Then power steering pump. Did the coolant junk twice after it needed temp sensors and a real temp gauge installed. Now i can take it all apart again for that sensor 😂 eff.
