Impressed with your detail in all you want to achieve😊 I found using the backside of the 90deg pick, as you started doing but then followed the groove of the clip all the way around while pushing down (note: in opposite direction of pointy end of pick). Worked well on my Prius gen3. All other videos werent as detailed and careful as you were! Such an important part to keep seal seated, protecting piston, keeping dirt out. Cheers again😊😊

You’re the man 👍 thanks for the video. Popped out my piston while doing my breaks on my sq5, this video gave me confidence can probably just put dust boot on without even removing the caliper off the car 😎

This seal first, piston second, spring third method is the best way to rebuild dual pot calipers that use the internal spring seal.

What surprises me in such rubber seal part is that it withstand the hydraulic pressure to stop an entire car while being a flexible part.

These calipers need to be restored and painted, they look disgusting! But that would obviously be another lengthy job. Good video showing that part of restoration specifically. What I would have done differently to avoid splashing brake fluid all over though, is to first remove the caliper with its piston (after pinching the brake hose to prevent leakage) and then, using an air compressor, to inject air behind the piston where the brake fluid usually is. With this method, the piston goes out and you don't make a mess with the brake fluid, but it requires an air compressor.

depends on your point of view. Im in Ontario Canada. a NEW caliper is $150+. a REMAN is about $120 ($80 plus a $40 core charge, which means you need to send the old one back to them). the seal kit is 25$. Replacing VS rebuilding, both need to be removed and bled. the 20 mins it takes to rebuild VS the 95$ extra cost (per side) is worth it to me because I do not make 300$ per hour. and for those whining about cleaning the caliper... drive it for a week and you will never know the difference.
