Thanks for the video - learned a few things about removing that door panel and how "extra special" the speaker situation is in my '06 Tundra. It would be cool if you would list the information on the parts you ended up going with in this guide? Replacement speaker, adapter ring, etc. Many thanks for taking the time to put this together!

Thank you for a very helpful video. I'd say you covered about 87% to 93% of the things I needed to know to replace the speakers in my 2004 Toyota Sequoia, whose bass had been blowing me a raspberry for quite a wile. Really made the job a lot easier. A LOT. There were a few gotchas you didn't cover... like fishing a few errant push in secure red blobs out from the car door and re-installing them in the panel before re-attaching the panel. The electrical part has its own oddities depending on what speakers you use, but I'm a long time electronics and radio tinkerer, so that turned out to be no problem at all.. I cut out, then soldered to the new speaker, the old Toyota connector from the old speakers. Worked great. Ada;tors for any of zillions of coaxial 6.5 in speakers are inexpensively avialable on eBay, to fit the nastily weird "proprietary" Toyota mounting hold and screw positions. Again... THANK you... you gave me the confidence to attack the speakers and, dsspite some modest (expected) small number of gotchas, made things go quite smootly.

JBL system speakers in the 2007 Toyota Sequoia ave 2 ohms of impedance. Aftermarket speakers are typically 4 ohms. How did you address this?

He didn't...because he has no concept of impedance, crossovers, or speaker mechanics.

installing a 4 ohm speaker will do no harm to the jbl amplifier, higher impedance less strain on the amp, so its completely fine
@kieranc60082 жыл бұрын
@@badboy8739 It will result in significantly lower volume though. Might be able to compensate with balance/fade from the head unit. But the speakers he used for replacement are 2ohm woofers.

Disclaimers: simple if you have the right tools here how I did it. Take off speaker leave plastic housing on the door .. angle grind OFF the speaker basket. Your left with a round OEM adapter . Line up speaker to what you angle grinded off Drill holes for mounting, tighten with screw and nuts. Wire and You should end up with an OEM adapter that bolts up. Speakers I used $55 "Powerbass L2-700" on a 2004 JBL limited sequoia system

So what wires from the old wiring set up are the positive and the ground? Looks like you are connecting to the red and yellow? Does anyone know exactly what wiring harness can be used? I've looked online and it seems like metra 72-9301 but I reviewer said it did not work on their 2002 toyota sequoia.

@kieranc60082 жыл бұрын
@@a_aronhdtech the speaker he replaced IS the subwoofer. One in each door. Both are 7" woofers. I don't think there's a separate sub.
@SirMixalot5000 Жыл бұрын
@@kieranc6008 That’s incorrect, the guy in the video replaced the mid-range side door speakers which range from 4-7 inches (7 inches in this sequoia). Speakers aren’t classified as subwoofers until they hit 8 inches and bigger. This sequoia has 4 mid-range speakers (1 on each door) and 4 tweeters (2 in the front of the car next to the window, 1 on each side, and there’s a 2.25 inch tweeter next to the side door speakers on each side). These Sequoias don’t have a stock subwoofer installed.

Blown speakers? Do you know what that means? 99% of the time now that the speakers are 15 years old the surrounds foam has dried out and coming apart. The speaker isn't BLOWN! Now if you kept cranking up the volume once it started rattling maybe you did damage it beyond repair. But! but! These are easily fixed with a new surround foam. NO big deal. Just saying.

Wow! Realllllllly!!! So apparently you don’t care how your Spkrs ( MIDS ) Sound. The MID isn’t completely sealed in the mounting hole ( A GAP OF OVER HALF OF THE SPKR ). Not to mention you have the tweeter mounted in the factory location ( The factory amp has a crossover in it, so you’ll be playing lower frequency’s to your new tweeter ) Meaning you’ll end up eventually having it go bad. My recommendation, take it to the professional car audio shop. Pay them to install the Spkrs correctly and stop posting videos on how to install spkrs.When you obviously have no understanding of how Spkrs are designed or how to install them. That is all.

Hey Shane. I just paid a lot of money to have my speakers replaced. They said they only had the bigger speaker and the tweeter up at the window in stock and that not installing that mid speaker should make that much of a difference. All I know is that it sure seems like the old stock stereo put out much more sound than this new Pioneer. You mentioned a "factory amp", could they have jacked with that? I just figured after $1000 it should sound markedly better and it doesn't. Just thought I'd ask you.
@LukeAMcDowell4 жыл бұрын
@@kellybrown8234 there are 2 install kits that can be used. The cheap one bypasses the factory amp. The more expensive one uses the amp. I bet they saved $10 and bypassed your amp. Take it back. Make them do it right. You spent too much money for that.
