How to enable backlit? I replaced keyboard, did bios firmware update but Keyboard Illumination tab at System Configuration in Bios is still not there. I guess without proper Bios firmware keyboard lights will never turn on. Any suggestions?

Well, you can pop off the keys, look up a key replacement, and then put the mechanism in the respective key, Just search up, Dell Inspiron key replacement

for anyone here still looking--you an replace individual keycaps that have broken, but if the key itself is no longer functional then you need to replace the whole board. there is no replacing individual key contacts, hence why i am here

Do NOT attempt replacing just the keyboard on this generation Dell. It'll never sit flush to the underside of palm rest and stay in place during use. What you need to do is get a new palm rest either from Dell or eBay with the keyboard in it. These are not designed to be replaced separate from the palm rest itself.

Just so you know, the keyboard on a Dell Inspiron 5570 is NOT -- I repeat, NOT -- replaceable. I mean, sure, if you want to send your Dell to Om Computers in Pune, India, by all means feel free, but if you're looking for how-to information so you can do it yourself, the answer is don't even think about it. Instead, you need to purchase an entire palm rest assembly, which includes the palm rest, keyboard, touchpad, all as one assembly. Replacement at that component level is fairly easy. As you can see, the keyboard is permanently heat-welded to the palm rest, and is not designed (unfortunately) to be replaced separately. You have warned -- I do this for a living and have first-hand experience.
